Auto Accident in Cleveland National Forest Kills San Diego Woman
A 63-year-old woman was killed in a San Diego County auto accident in the Cleveland National Forest, according to this news report. The accident occurred near Buckman Springs Road the afternoon of February 25, 2009 when a 2007 Pontiac sedan eastbound on the Interstate 8 swerved out of the far left-hand lane and struck a Honda Civic.
California Highway Patrol officials said the impact of the crash sent the Honda Civic veering off the south side of the roadway and down an embankment. The driver was apparently wearing her seat belt, but was still ejected from the car as it tumbled down the slope. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased victim has not yet been identified. A passenger in the Honda also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the Pontiac, who apparently triggered this fatal auto accident, was uninjured. Officials say they received reports from eyewitnesses that the driver of the Pontiac was driving recklessly just before this accident occurred.
