Fatal San Francisco Bay Area Car Accident
One person was fatally injured in a San Francisco car accident involving several vehicles, CBS News reports. The fatal crash occurred the morning of April 27, 2010 at the intersection of River Road and Somers Street in Sonoma County. California Highway Patrol officials said a Nissan Sentra was stopped at the intersection and was waiting to turn left. The Nissan was then rear-ended by a Toyota Tercel and pushed into eastbound traffic. An approaching Lexus collided with the Nissan, killing its passenger.
The driver of the Nissan ran from the crash scene, but officials found him a short distance away with major head trauma. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two people in the Lexus sustained minor injuries while the driver of the Tercel was uninjured. Officials say it is not clear why the driver of the Sentra ran from the scene as he was not at fault.
