Paris Hilton and Cy Waits Involved in Injury Accident

Paris Hilton and her boyfriend CY Waits were in a Hollywood car accident Wednesday night when they ran into a photographer. They had dinner at Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood, but the night turned south after they reportedly ran over a paparazzi's foot. An ambulance was called to the scene and medics tended to the injured female photographer, who was later transported to hospital for treatment.

In most car versus pedestrian accidents, it is the driver who is at fault. However, if a pedestrian negligently steps into the path of a moving motor vehicle, clearly the pedestrian is liable for his or her own injuries.

Fatal Bicycle Accident Involves Hit-and-Run Driver

A 25-year-old man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run collision in San Jose after he was struck by a vehicle at a local intersection. The driver who hit the bicyclist fled the scene of the car crash, which occurred at the intersection of Zanker and Los Esteros roads early morning on September 21, 2010, CBS News reports. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. There were apparently no witnesses to this hit-and-run collision and no description of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact San Jose police officers at 408-277-4654.

It is not only a crime to flee the scene of an injury accident, but it is also unconscionable to leave an injured victim on the street without medical attention. There are many hit-and-run collisions where the injured victim may have lived had the driver stopped and made an attempt to get prompt medical attention. In car accident cases a few minutes can make the difference between life and death.

They found the walkway of the tunnel hard to travel through, because the passage was covered in a variety of debris, including 8 to 10 inches of seaweed. As they continued through the dangerous public property the path only became worse. The mess was so thick that even the curb was not discernible.

There was no other walkway to the parking lot they needed to get to, so Janice and Robert proceeded with caution. Suddenly, the debris below Janice collapsed, allowing her foot to sink and become entangled. The momentum of Janice's gait forced her body forward, resulting in numerous broken bones in her leg.

Don't Split Lanes or Travel in the Carpool Lane if You Are Riding a Three-Wheeled Car or Bike.

If you've ever seen the Sparrow -- a futuristic looking three-wheeled enclosed bike -- then you've seen the type of vehicle to which this law applies. California Motor Vehicle Code 21714 makes it a crime to drive a fully-enclosed three-wheeled motorcycle or mini-car in the car pool lanes. You also cannot split lanes in these vehicles by driving between two cars that may be driving in front of you.

Sparrows were built in California from 2000 until around 2002 and run on several batteries. The cars are electric hybrids and are designed to travel up to 70 miles per hour. Sometimes they have two wheels in the front; sometimes the two wheels are in the back.

Tired Truckers are Dangerous Truckers

California Motor Vehicle Code 21702 makes it illegal to drive your big rig or commercial bus if you have not gotten an adequate amount of sleep.

The National Transportation Safety Board recently recommended the installation of electronic record keeping devices in all trucks to regulate rest periods. Currently, truckers are required to keep logs of drive and sleep time. The logs most often are hand written and can easily be misleading. Enforcement of California Vehicle Code 21702 is mostly based on the honor system, but installation of electronic recording devices would change this. If the NTSB can convince trucking companies to use electronic devices, the roads would be much safer for us all.
