Three Injured in San Francisco Car Accident

Three people sustained injuries in a San Francisco car accident, which involved four vehicles. According to a Bay City News Service report, the injury car accident occurred early morning on December 25, 2010 near the intersection of Lake Merced and Font boulevards. Three people were taken to a local hospital for treatment of various injuries. The nature or extent of their injuries is not known. An investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to everyone who was injured in this car accident. I hope none of them has suffered catastrophic injuries. I pray that they all recover quickly and completely from the injuries they have sustained.

San Francisco Car Accidents

According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 35 fatalities and 3,577 injuries involving car accidents in San Francisco.

What Caused This Car Accident?

Based on this news report, it is not clear whether this four-car accident occurred at the intersection or near the intersection. There are more questions than answers in this case. Was one of the drivers under the influence? Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way or run a red light? Did driver distraction, recklessness, excessive speed or any other form of negligence cause this injury car accident? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine what occurred here and why.

Man Injured in San Diego Hit-And-Run Car Accident

A 48-year-old man was critically injured in a San Diego car accident, which police say, was caused by a hit-and-run driver. According to a 10News report, the hit-and-run accident occurred on North Mollison Avenue the night of December 27, 2010 in El Cajon. The man was crossing the road when a gray Nissan Xterra struck him. The man sustained severe internal injuries. The police are searching for the driver involved in this hit-and-run car accident. Police believe the Nissan would now have front-end damage from the accident.

My thoughts and prayers are with the man injured in this terrible hit-and-run car accident. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery from his injuries.

Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), four people were killed and 43 were injured in El Cajon pedestrian accidents. During the same year, there were 63 fatalities and 998 injuries sustained as a result of pedestrian accidents in San Diego County.

Leaving the Scene of a Car Accident

Leaving the scene of an injury car accident is a morally reprehensible act in addition to being a serious crime. California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: "The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident." In this particular case, the driver of the Xterra struck down the pedestrian and kept going, leaving the critically injured man lying on the roadway. Despicable!

Top Dangerous Trucking Companies - Schneider National, Inc. and J.B. Hunt Transport Services

The top trucking companies are no longer being remembered for their clever commercials. Due to the large number of injuries and deaths reported as results of trucking accidents, an increased number of drivers are consciously changing lanes to keep their distance from these weapons of mass destruction. In light of this new development I found myself checking to see which companies are the largest, and what makes their trucks cause heartbreak to countless people around the world.

Since the most profitable companies are spending the most time on the road, they naturally are responsible for the highest number of trucking accidents. The reasons for these accidents are strikingly consistent, usually having to do with a lack of sleep or intoxication, but what worries me is the enhanced difficulty for truck drivers to handle these vehicles when faced with a situation that warrants an evasive maneuver. The length of time to stop an eighteen-wheeler is 40% greater than that of an automobile, depending on their weight and road surfaces.

What comes to mind when you think of Con-Way Transportation ? Hopefully nothing, but for many Americans they feel the heartache of a horrific experience that they will never forget. Every day numerous people come inches away from being involved in a debilitating truck accident. Since nothing actually happens, they tend to ignore it and continue as if they were never in danger. Although we constantly narrowly escape death and serious injury, many aren't able to and are left to deal with the repercussions of a truck driver's negligence.

Deadly Con-Way Trends

Top Dangerous Trucking Companies

There are several dangers posed by top trucking companies and they are responsible for countless trucking accidents. Many transportation companies rely solely on their big-rigs to transport their products lining streets and highways with countless trucks going long distances trying to operate their vehicles safely under very difficult circumstances. In 2006, the transportation industry logged 432.9 billion miles. Every 16 minutes, someone is killed or injured in a semi-truck accident. Drivers are noticing more and more fatal truck accidents and can only hope that they won't be the next victim.

Driving on the road today nothing is more frightening than being involved in a catastrophic trucking accident. Several companies are guilty, leaving me with the difficult task of choosing the top two trucking companies by revenue. In the past few years, we have seen the following companies take an increasing toll on the safety of today's motorists.

The Share Our Selves (SOS) Adopt A Family Program is happening again this holiday season, and the California personal injury attorneys and staff at BISNAR | CHASE law firm are getting excited. Members of the BISNAR | CHASE staff have been donors in the program for the last sixteen years, and the giving has developed into an office tradition.

"When Christmas rolls around, that means an all-out, present-wrapping-pizza-party at our office for the staff," said Shannon Barker, legal administrator and office manager at BISNAR | CHASE who says the firm's staff members come together, usually a week or two before Christmas, to wrap presents for the families they adopt. GEICO Auto Insurance Resists Personal Injury Lawsuits

Just a few years ago, GEICO auto insurance was considered one of the easiest car insurance companies to deal with after a serious car accident. Many found that if GEICO was clearly liable for their injuries, there were rarely problems in getting the company to cough up the dough. Unfortunately, accident victims across the U.S. are finding that GEICO is going down a new path, a path that is leading thousands of car accident victims to years of anguish and disbelief.

The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway that as of 2007 provided coverage for more than 10 million cars owned by more than 9 million people. GEICO writes private passenger car insurance in all 50 states. Their advertising campaigns have been quite successful, most notably the “GEICO gecko”, “GEICO caveman”, and the recently implemented dancing stack of money.

Knowing When You Need Help With Your Personal Injury Case

During these harsh times, catastrophic injury victims are having a difficult time recognizing when their case warrants a personal injury law firm evaluation. Since insurance companies are denying claims like a prom queen at a dive bar, car accident victims are taking matters into their own hands and taking their cases to small claims court. Under some circumstances, this is the best thing to do; under most, it is the worst possible action one could take to receive compensation for their injuries. So how is one to know when they need an attorney? The answer differs on a case-by-case basis.

Personal Injury Cases with Minor Injuries

No accident victim wants to hear that their injuries are minor, but if you want to obtain fair compensation you will have to adhere to a thought process that is anything but just. Insurance adjusters are in the business of making money. They do not care that your life has been flipped upside down and that you will forever be scarred as a result of your accident. They prove this every time they limit insurance payouts. If they deny a claim and the injuries are relatively small, personal injuries attorneys will not pick up your case because it will cost too much for you to pay them. This has resulted in many victims with minor injuries to seek justice in small claims court, but many of them did not realize the extent of their injuries until it was too late.

Farmers Auto Insurance: A Colossal Injustice

Being involved in a catastrophic injury accident is difficult enough without having to deal with the likes of Farmers Auto Insurance. Farmers has been known to deny legitimate claims and offer very low settlement amounts for accidents that result in huge medical expenses. Victims of these horrific car accidents are left to wonder why an incident that should have been taken care of immediately ends up taking years to wrap up.

Founded in 1928, Farmers Insurance is the third largest insurance company in the U.S. providing various types of insurance including polices for cars and truck. Since their inception, they have managed to perfect the art of limiting payouts and have even helped pioneer computer programs to give them excuses to do so.

Just Blame Colossus

One way that Farmers likes to redirect criticism for their underhanded tactics is by blaming their indiscretions on a computer program they call Colossus. Colossus was designed to evaluate personal injury claims and put a number on what the claim is worth. As you can imagine, entering all catastrophic injury victims into a one-size-fits-all emotionless printer/popcorn machine isn't going to produce the results that injured victims need. Although victims need compensation for their physical disabilities that resulted from their accident, that is not all. Many suffer from post traumatic stress after their SUV rolls over fifteen times at high speeds down the freeway, have to recover from the loss of a family member that was in the vehicle, or are no longer able to perform the same job. Blaming a heartless denial of a claim to a person because of a computer is just plain ignorant.

Obtaining Compensation from State Farm Auto Insurance

No insurance company is easy to deal with after a serious personal injury accident, and State Farm Auto Insurance is no exception. Having almost 100 years to perfect their negotiations in personal injury lawsuits, it comes as no surprise that State Farm has been able to flourish despite the constant complaints on their claim handling process. They know how to sweep claims under the rug and discard accident victim's rights to the extent that many victims are no longer getting compensation under claims that show clear liability. Many victims have decided to take their minor injury accidents to small claims court to bypass attorneys all together, which isn't a bad idea.

State Farm Auto Insurance Reviews

As you might be expecting, State Farm isn't known for being the best auto insurance company on the market. Although customer reviews can sometimes be better than average, this is usually because those customers have never been involved in a traffic collision where State Farm becomes liable for their damages. Auto Insurance companies are in the business to make money, which consists of limiting car accident payouts, turning lifetime customers into lifetime company enemies. Taking a quick glance at web reviews we can get an idea of how customers are feeling about good ole State Farm.

What to Do If Your Car Gets Towed Illegally

Most victims who have their cars towed, whether it's illegal or not, don't take the necessary steps to fight back and get compensation. Many don't even know that that their car was towed illegally. They assume that they were at fault, pay to get their car out, and move on with their lives. In Westervelt v. Beach Cities Towing Services Inc. (BCTS), we see an everyday citizen stand up and make it known that he will not be taken advantage of, and his efforts are being noticed throughout the community.

Case Facts

The plaintiff states that on 10/21/2010 his car was illegally towed from a space behind his garage in Rancho Santa Margarita. No warning or notice was given that this was being done; plaintiff states that the driver clearly made an independent decision to tow his vehicle without a PPI (Private Party Impound) or a fire lane sign being present at the location.

Plaintiff's Arguments

Defendant's report states that this towing occurred as a result of a general order to tow from MGMT, with no agent of the property owner present at the time of the tow. No name or phone number of such person being present was shown on the report made by Defendant, nor did anyone call to complain about plaintiff's car being parked behind his garage. Plaintiff further states that defendant's report falsely states that his car was parked in a fire lane. Plaintiff states that there is no fire lane sign or a painted curb as required by statue to mark a designated fire lane.

Police Identify Woman Killed by Drunk Driver

Cynthia Anne Ray has been identified as the 30-year-old woman that was struck by a car operated by Robert V. Bryant in front of the State Police barracks in Andover, Massachusetts on Sunday.

Ray had stopped at the barracks to pick up a police report about a minor crash involving a relative, and was struck by Bryant’s truck as she was walking to her parked vehicle. Bryant, who was accused of drunken driving, then struck Ray’s vehicle with her mother on the passenger seat.

He then attempted to flee the scene, but Ray’s mother ran in to get help at the barracks, and Bryant was soon stopped by police. Ray was found unconscious following the accident. She was rushed to a local hospital, then to Boston, where she died from her injuries Sunday night.
Bryant was arraigned at court yesterday on multiple charges including motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence. Bryant failed three field sobriety tests, news reports said. He admitted to having had a few beers at a friend’s house prior to the accident.

Bryant, 50, a local business executive from Haverhill and a father of four, reportedly told State Police he did not remember hitting Ray. According to the prosecutor, Bryant allegedly told a trooper “Did I hit somebody? A pedestrian? I don’t remember.’’

Apparently, David vs. Goliath wasn't acceptable odds for Allstate Auto Insurance. Victims of catastrophic injury accidents are outraged by Allstate who continues to routinely deny claims, solely for the purpose of increasing their chances of avoiding financial liability for those covered under their policies. Many victims who have comparatively minor injuries are finding that small claims court is a viable option. Others have found that they will just have to endure years of court battles and humiliating circumstances until a jury can award the compensation they deserve.

"From Good Hands to Boxing Gloves

A book written by David Berardinelli, Michael Freeman, and Aaron DeShaw, From Good Hands to Boxing Gloves tells of profit-boosting strategies that a consulting firm presented to Allstate to maximize profits and diminish the amount of money sent to clients who put in a claim. This company's recommendation to Allstate was to low-ball claims so that desperate customers in dire straits would be more likely to accept a settlement offer while Allstate continued to make a profit and collect interest on the insurance payment. Allstate would offer its "good hands" in the way of a low-ball claim and, if the customer did not accept, get out the "boxing gloves."

Allstate Auto Insurance, Are You in Good Hands?

Allstate Auto Insurance likes to advertise that when you are with Allstate "you're in good hands". This sounds great, but what if I am involved in a catastrophic injury car accident. Am I still in good hands? Allstate has spent many years projecting an image that has led people to believe that if they buy an Allstate policy they will be protected if something bad were to happen. Although this sounds great, we have seen evidence of Allstate not acting particularly friendly when they are in danger of being held liable for personal injuries, injuries that they were supposed to be protecting.
