Truck Accident in Los Angeles Area Causes Major Injuries

Los Angeles truck accident lawyerAt least one person was seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which involved a Wal-Mart big rig and several other vehicles. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the major injury collision occurred on the westbound 210 freeway east of Grand Avenue in Glendora early morning on April 29, 2011. Officials are still investigating what caused this injury collision.

Elderly Woman Injured in Long Beach Car Accident

An elderly woman was injured in a Long Beach car accident involving four vehicles. According to a news report in The Press Telegram, the injury accident occurred at the intersection of Los Coyotes Diagonal and Wardlow Road in Long Beach the afternoon of April 26, 2011. Officials say a white Subaru SUV ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota Camry. A tire flew off the Camry and struck a white Ford Escort, as the Subaru continued forward hitting a green Volvo. The female driver of the Camry sustained moderate injuries in the crash. The driver of the Subaru was cited for running a red light.

Bicyclist Injured in San Diego Car Accident

San Diego bicycle accident lawyersA 46-year-old man was injured in a San Diego car accident when a 22-year-old woman opened her car door in front of his bicycle. According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the bicycle accident occurred on University Avenue near Arizona Street in North Park the afternoon of April 25, 2011. The bicyclist fell off his bike in the collision and hit his head on the ground, sustaining a life-threatening skull fracture. An investigation is ongoing.

Bakersfield Car Accident Involves Suspected Drunk Driver

A car accident in Bakersfield involving a suspected drunk driver resulted in injuries for four people the night of April 23, 2011. ABC News reports that the injury drunk driving crash occurred at the intersection of White Lane and Gosford Lane in Bakersfield when 23-year-old April Trugillo, who was driving a Ford pickup truck, ran the red light and struck a Pontiac car. Three people in the Pontiac were transported to a local hospital with injuries. Trugillo was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.

I truly hope that the victims in this case were not seriously injured. I pray for their quick and full recovery from whatever injuries they have sustained.

There were 35 deaths and 476 injuries involving alcohol-related crashes in Kern County in 2008, according to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In the city of Bakersfield, 14 people were killed and 140 were injured in DUI collisions during the same year.

Incident on Highway 154

Los Angeles car accident attorneyAccording to a news report online in the Santa Maria Times, there has been a collision on Highway 154 in the Painted Cave Road area, the main highway between Santa Barbara and the San Marcos Pass Road, which connects with the 101 has been cleared.

The collision involved three vehicles and occurred at around 07:30 in the morning. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, one of the vehicles travelled at least 150 feet along the side of the road, adjacent to the carriageway.

Not the first incident on the 154

Thankfully, most of those involved suffered only minor injuries which the emergency services were able to treat at the scene. One person sustained more severe injuries and was taken to hospital but is hopefully on the way to a strong recovery.

The crash is under investigation by the CHP but this is not the first incident that has occurred on the 154 this month. On April 7th a black bear was killed in a collision with a driver. Again, this incident occurred early in the morning; around 6am. The driver was unhurt but the car sustained major damages.

According to the Ventura Country Star, the man tried to swerve around the bear but was unable to miss it. The advice from the CHP spokesman was that if faced with a potential collision with wildlife is to drive straight on; often swerving can cause more damage to driver and vehicle.

DUI Collision in Sacramento Area Proves Fatal

Sacramento personal injury lawyersTimothy Chapman, 40, was killed in a Sacramento area car accident, which officials say, involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Sacramento Bee, the fatal DUI collision was reported the early morning of April 23, 2011 on Pleasant Valley Road in El Dorado County. Chapman was a passenger in a BMW driven by a 44-year-old Chico resident. The driver lost control as he tried to negotiate a curve. The car struck an embankment and a tree before landing in a field. Chapman sustained fatal injuries. The driver was transported to a hospital with severe head trauma, and was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.

Elderly Woman Killed in San Francisco Car Accident

involving a mobile crane tractor truck the morning of April 15, 2011. According to a news report in the San Francisco Examiner, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Second and Townsend streets in San Francisco. Witnesses report that the truck made a left turn and struck Richman as she crossed the street in a marked crosswalk. Richman was transported to a local hospital where she died later that day. Investigators are trying to determine why this accident occurred and why the truck driver failed to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk before making the turn.

Orange County DUI Collision Causes Injuries

Orange County DUI attorneysA woman was injured in an Orange County car accident, which officials say involved a drunk driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the DUI accident occurred at the intersection of West Chapman Avenue and Knott Street in Garden Grove the night of April 19, 2011. Officials say that the male driver of a pickup was speeding when he ran a red light, crashed into a second vehicle and then slammed into an abandoned building. Both the male driver of the pickup and the female driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

San Francisco Area Muni Bus Accident Causes Injuries

A woman was injured in a San Francisco car accident involving a runaway Muni bus. According to a report in the San Jose Mercury News, the injury bus accident occurred on San Jose Avenue near Mission Street in Daly City the evening of April 17, 2011. Investigators are trying to determine if the bus was being driven at the time of the accident, or if the vehicle was improperly parked and rolled down the roadway. The female driver of the car that the bus slammed into sustained non-life-threatening injuries. However, she had to be extricated from her vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.

Los Angeles DUI Collision Proves Fatal for Pedestrian

A 42-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured in a Los Angeles car accident after he was struck by a suspected drunk driver. According to a CBS news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of California Street and Pacific Boulevard in Walnut Park early morning on April 18, 2011. The motorist, 23-year-old Luis Jimenez was traveling east on California when he ran a stop sign, lost control of his car and hit the pedestrian. The pedestrian was killed in the crash. Jimenez sustained minor injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Injury Car Accident May Have Involved Unsafe Left Turn

Karla Arteaga, 20, was severely injured in a Tulare car accident that may have involved a driver making an unsafe left turn. According to a news report in the Visalia Times Delta, the serious injury accident occurred at Newcomb and Olive avenues in Porterville the night of April 14, 2011. Arteaga was driving her 1992 BMW when a Ford F-150 pickup truck made a left turn in front of her vehicle at the intersection. Arteaga sustained major injuries in the accident. The driver of the Ford, 42-year-old David Bochat, 42, and his passenger were uninjured. No citations have been issued pending an official investigation.

One Injured in Riverside County School Bus Accident

Orange County Truck Accident Causes Critical Injuries

alt textDante Rouzan, 27, was seriously injured in an Orange County truck accident involving an out-of-control big rig. According to news reports, the serious injury accident occurred on westbound 91 Freeway near Glassell Street in Anaheim the night of April 12, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say that a gravel truck driver was trapped inside the cab of his vehicle when an out-of-control 18-wheeler crashed into his vehicle. Rouzan had to be extricated from the truck and was hospitalized with major injuries. Officials are looking into what caused the big rig to go out of control.

DUI Collision Causes Serious Injuries

Six people were injured in a car accident, which officials say, may have involved a drunk driver. Those injured, including the suspected drunk driver, have been identified as: Emmanuel Corona and Anthony Fusaro, both 26, Tiffany Canderday, 17, Michelle Canderday, 21, Megan Espinosa, 19, and Fernando Ramirez, 31. According to a news report in The Daily Democrat, the serious injury accident occurred on State Route 128 near Pleasant Valley Road in Woodland the night of April 10, 2011.

California Highway Patrol officials say that Ramirez made an unsafe turning movement, crossed a double-yellow line and crashed his 1996 Honda Accord head-on into Espinosa’s Toyota Camry. The injuries suffered by the six victims range from major to minor. Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Los Angeles Motorcycle Accident Proves Fatal

A 23-year-old Burbank man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles after he hit the rear of another motorcycle. According to a news report in the Daily Breeze, both motorcyclists fell off their vehicles the afternoon of April 10, 2011 on the 10 Freeway near West Los Angeles. The second motorcycle slid under the back of an Acura. The Burbank man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man from North Hollywood, was treated for injuries and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. No one else was injured. An investigation is ongoing.

Bicyclist Dies from Injuries Sustained in Orange County Car Accident

Marco Acuapan, 22, has died from injuries sustained in an Orange County car accident on November 17, 2010. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Acuapan was riding westbound in a bike lane on Walnut near Browning Avenue in Tustin, when he was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by 65-year-old Renato Demartino. The driver fled the scene, but was arrested several hours later.

Acuapan suffered severe head injuries and never regained consciousness. He died the morning of April 7, 2011 from his injuries. Demartino pleaded not guilty to charges of felony hit-and-run with serious injury and making an unsafe turn or lane change and not using his head lamps at night. The District Attorney's office is still considering whether to file additional charges following Acuapan's death.

Orange County Car Accident Injures Three

Three people were injured in an Orange County car accident, which involved two vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the head-on collision occurred the morning of April 7, 2011 in the 11500 block of Western Avenue in Stanton. Three women were transported to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The crash involved a Chevy Tahoe with three people inside including a child and a Toyota Camry with only its driver. An investigation is ongoing.

Riverside Head-on Car Accident Injures Driver

A 71-year-old man driving a pickup truck was seriously injured in a Riverside car accident which authorities say, involved a speeding SUV that was stolen. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the injury accident occurred on Highway 74 in Riverside County the afternoon of April 5, 2011. Police say 48-year-old David Charles Abrams fled the scene of a disturbance in a stolen SUV and eluded authorities by driving in excess of 100 mph. Abrams apparently lost control of the SUV while negotiating a curve on the roadway and entered into oncoming traffic lanes. The vehicle then hit the pickup head-on. Both drivers were hospitalized with injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Los Angeles Car Accident Involves Hit-and-Run Driver

Ernesto Lopez, 25, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after his vehicle was struck by another car on the freeway early morning on April 5, 2011. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the fatal car accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Scott Road in Burbank. California Highway Patrol officials say a blue pickup truck merged in to the freeway lane ahead of Lopez' Honda Pilot, which then went down an embankment. The Honda SUV crashed into a tree. Lopez died at the scene.

His passengers, 21-year-old Jose Lopez suffered bruises to his lungs and broken bones, while 25-year-old Guadalupe Vasquez, suffered a fractured shoulder. CHP officials are asking for the public's help to find the second vehicle, a blue pickup truck with damage to its right side. The driver did not stop at the scene. Anyone with information about this hit-and-run driver is asked to contact CHP's Altadena office at 626-296-8100.

DUI Collision in San Luis Obispo Causes Major Injuries

Maria DeJesus Garcia, 37, was seriously injured in a San Luis Obispo car accident, which officials say, involved a drunk driver. According to a KSBY news report, the major injury DUI collision occurred on Highway 46 near Shandon the night of April 2, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say 49-year-old Faustino Barcenas was under the influence when he drifted into oncoming traffic on the highway. His vehicle first hit the side of a Nissan Altima, driven by Pablo Elgarrista, 41, and then crashed head-on into Garcia’s vehicle. Garcia and Barcenas both suffered major injuries in the accident. Barcenas was later arrested for felony driving under the influence.

Motorcyclist Killed in Los Angeles Car Accident

Jose Quinones, 46, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on the 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar the morning of April 1, 2011. Police say Quinones lost control of his Kawasaki motorcycle, crashed and was thrown in front of an oncoming 2007 Honda Accord. The Honda struck Quinones. However, the driver fled the scene. Authorities later identified the hit-and-run driver as 50-year-old Hussein Abuatieh and arrested him on suspicion of hit-and-run. Initial reports of the accident stated Quinones' motorcycle started to wobble before it went out of control. An investigation is ongoing.

Hit-and-Run Car Accident in Los Angeles Causes Critical Injuries

A pedestrian was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a City News Service report, the major injury collision occurred on Victory Boulevard near Fulton Avenue the night of March 31, 2011. Officials say a dark colored sedan was heading west on Victory Boulevard when it struck a man who was walking on the street. Officials are still looking into whether the man was attempting to cross the street or walking along the side of the roadway. He was apparently a few feet away from the crosswalk. The driver left the scene. No further description of the suspect or vehicle is available. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact LAPD at 818-644-8000.
