According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the major injury collision occurred on Mission Gorge Road, near Old Cliffs Road, in Allied Gardens. The man was found by officials lying in the westbound bicycle lane with serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital. Officials say he appears to have been hit by a vehicle whose driver did not stop. An investigation is ongoing.

A 31-year-old man was killed in a San Francisco area car accident involving a hit-and-run driver, the night of June 27, 2011. According to a KCOY news report, the fatal bicycle accident occurred at Soquel San Jose Road and O’Neill Lane in Soquel. The man was fatally injured when a car driven by a 33-year-old woman struck him. She left the scene of the accident but returned within a half hour to give a statement. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. The women did not have alcohol in her system when she returned to the site of the fatal accident.

Tzerelin Bautista Babalcon, 48, of Encinitas, was killed in a San Diego car accident involving a collision between a Mitsubishi Eclipse and a pickup truck. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal truck accident occurred on State Route 76, near Lilac Road, in Pala, the morning of June 26, 2011. The woman was a passenger in the Eclipse, being driven by her husband, and traveling west on State Route 76. The Eclipse was struck by a pickup truck that attempted to turn left from eastbound State Route 76 into the Pala Raceway. Babalcon was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband was hospitalized. An investigation is ongoing.

A pregnant woman may have been involved in a multi-car accident in Santa Ana. According to a MSNBC news report, the accident occurred on the southbound 405 and involved a Dodge Stratus, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Honda Pilot and Nissan Sentra. Due to the accident, the two right lanes had to be closed for nearly an hour.

As of now, many questions about this car collision are left unanswered. The condition of the drivers involved in the auto accident is unknown at this time. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, however.

Four people were injured in a San Diego car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to a 10News report, the hit-and-run crash occurred at the intersection of Island Avenue and 25th Street in the Sherman Heights neighborhood, the morning of June 25, 2011. Officials say the suspect was speeding in a Ford Escort and went through a stop sign, before crashing into a Jeep. Three occupants in the Escort were hospitalized for injuries including head and hip injuries, while the driver of the Jeep was also injured and hospitalized. The driver of the Escort fled the scene of the crash on foot. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

A 28-year-old woman and a 4-year girl suffered serious injuries in a Fresno area car accident involving a blown tire and a head-on collision. According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the serious injury accident occurred on Highway 41, near Coarsegold, the afternoon of June 22, 2011. A 53-year-old man was driving his Ford truck when the front tire blew out and his vehicle veered out of control. The truck then crashed head-on into a car driven the woman. The woman and the girl suffered major injuries. A baby in the car was not hurt, while the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

One person was injured in an Orange County car accident involving a Honda sedan, a Nissan Frontier and a Ford Focus. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury accident occurred near Anaheim High School at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Citron Street in Anaheim, the morning of June 22, 2011. It is not clear at the moment what caused the three vehicles to collide at the intersection. A woman in the Ford Focus had to be removed from her vehicle. It does not appear that the drivers of the Honda or the Nissan were injured.

A 51-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 4 and 10, suffered critical injuries in an Orange County car accident involving a Honda Civic veering off the roadway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the serious injury accident occurred off the 405 Freeway in Irvine, the afternoon of June 20, 2011. It is not clear what caused the car to leave the roadway. Firefighters had to extricate two of the injured victims. All three appear to have suffered traumatic injuries. An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the crash and if another motorist was involved.

Two people were injured in a Ventura car accident, which officials say, was caused by two vehicles that were racing on a public roadway. According to a news report in the Ventura County Star, the injury car accident occurred the afternoon of June 19, 2011 on Camino del Sol in Oxnard. Officials say two Corvettes were racing eastbound on Camino del Sol, when one of the drivers, 28-year-old Samuel Mata, lost control and collided with two other vehicles that were traveling in the opposite direction.

A woman in her 60s was injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the hit-and-run car accident occurred on Riverside Drive in Los Angeles the early morning of June 19, 2011. Officials say a vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-on into the victim's car. The woman sustained fractures in both legs. The male driver responsible for the crash left his vehicle at the scene of the accident and fled on foot. He is believed to be in his 20s. An investigation is ongoing.

Jose Antonio Mora Avelar, 48, was killed in a Ventura car accident involving three dump trucks and six other vehicles. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal truck accident occurred on northbound Highway 101 near Camarillo Springs Road, the morning of June 15, 2011. The victim's dump truck crashed into another dump truck driven by Tigran Tagaryn 38, at a high rate of speed. The second truck overturned and crashed into multiple other vehicles. A third dump truck, driven by Arthur Cohan, 60, also crashed into by Tagaryn’s overturned truck.

Avelar was killed in the crash from blunt force trauma. Tagaryn sustained lacerations and neck and back pain. Cohan sustained minor injuries. Several other vehicles were damaged but no other victims were hospitalized following the crash.

A pregnant woman and 10 others suffered injuries in a Los Angeles car accident involving a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the injury bus accident occurred the night of June 14, 2011, near West Adams Boulevard and 6th Avenue, in Jefferson Park. A 30-year-old female driver suffered critical injuries when her car collided with the bus. The 25-year-old pregnant woman on the bus suffered serious injuries, while her three daughters suffered minor injuries. Six other passengers ranging in age from 18 to 65 also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

Steve Campos, 25, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck whose driver made an unsafe left turn. According to a City News Service report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Etiwanda Avenue in Reseda, the afternoon of June 13, 2011. Campos was riding a Yamaha R6 motorcycle westbound when a 1987 Nissan pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Roberto Casillas turned in front of the motorcycle. Officials determined that Casillas failed to yield right-of-way to the oncoming motorcycle. Campos was pronounced dead shortly after the crash in a nearby hospital. Casillas faces murder charges in connection with this fatal car accident.

A man was killed in a Bakersfield car accident when a vehicle struck him as he crossed the street, the night of June 12, 2011. According to an ABC news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Niles Street, near Morning Drive, in East Bakersfield. The female driver involved in this crash was looking behind her, before changing lanes, when she hit and dragged the pedestrian on the roadway. The man was killed in the crash and the female driver sustained moderate injuries. Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury motorcycle versus car accident occurred in the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway, near Coal Canyon, in Anaheim. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene and then transported to an area trauma center with major injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Jaime Obeso, 53, was killed in a car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver, the afternoon of June 7, 2011. According to a news report in the Imperial Valley Press, the fatal injury accident occurred at the Sunbeam Rest Area, near Drew Road, in Seeley. Obeso, a Caltrans worker was on the job, when Kyle Pearson, 42, driving a 2003 Ford crashed into the enclosed construction work zone and fatally struck him.

Obeso died at the scene of the crash. Pearson attempted to leave the accident site but his vehicle overturned. He was hospitalized with major injuries. Pearson was arrested shortly afterward by the authorities on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving as well as gross vehicular manslaughter.

Alex Rocha, 11, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after the vehicle in which he was a passenger rolled over and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal rollover accident occurred on Highway 95 near Highway 62, the morning of June 6, 2011. The driver of the vehicle veered off the northbound 95 and then attempted to steer back onto the roadway. This caused the vehicle to roll over. Alex died at the scene of the crash. His mother and sisters also sustained injuries in this accident. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the cause of this car accident.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury car accident occurred at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Greenville Street, the morning of June 6, 2011. Santa Ana police say a Toyota pickup truck ran a red light at the intersection and struck a Toyota Camry that was traveling east on MacArthur Boulevard. The female driver of the Camry and her son were transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. An investigation is ongoing.

Two girls, aged 12 and 13, were injured in an Orange County car accident, which police report, involved a drunk driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Tustin Street and Quincy Avenue in Orange, the morning of May 31, 2011. The two girls had just stepped off the curb and onto a marked crosswalk, when a 2007 Ford Focus driven by 37-year-old Mitchell Cupery of Costa Mesa struck them.

Both girls suffered serious injuries and as of June 2, 2011, one of the victims was still in the hospital. Officials say Cupery left the scene of the crash. The authorities tracked down the hit-and-run driver and arrested him on charges including DUI, hit-and-run with permanent injury, and driving on a suspended license.

Many Orange County residents soaked in the sun and enjoyed a summer preview this last Sunday, but for two unlucky drivers in Santa Ana, this weekend will be very difficult to recover from. According to the Orange County Register, two drivers suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night. The crash occurred at about 10:10 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Tustin when one driver traveling southbound drifted across lanes and struck another vehicle going northbound, said Cmdr. Steve Colon with the Santa Ana Police Department. Neither driver suffered life-threatening injuries.

Luckily, both drivers were able to escape with their lives. My thoughts and condolences go out to friends and family of the victims. I know what it is like to sit bed-side with someone you love and pray that everything will go back to normal. I wish all involved a speedy and complete recovery.

A motorcyclist was injured in a San Francisco area car accident involving a hit-and-run driver who officials say may have been under the influence of alcohol. According to a news report in KTVU San Francisco, the motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Dutton Avenue and West Third Street in Santa Rosa, the night of June 1, 2011. Officials found the injured motorcyclist at the intersection, but the driver of the car that struck the motorcyclist left the scene of the crash. The victim of this hit-and-run accident sustained a possible fractured arm. The authorities have arrested 23-year-old Adan Garcia-Salome on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, felony DUI and resisting arrest, in connection with this incident.

Prosecutors have filed murder and DUI charges against a 26-year-old man who caused a car accident in Irvine that killed 14-year-old Northwood High cheerleader Ashton Sweet. The Orange County Register reports that Austin Farley is facing murder and DUI causing great bodily injury. In addition, prosecutors also want a sentencing enhancement for intentionally and personally inflicting great bodily injury. If convicted, Farley could be looking at 20 years to life in prison.

Tragic DUI Collision

Officials say Farley, who had been drinking with his girlfriend, took a cab to his pickup truck and drove off. He made an illegal left turn against a red arrow at the intersection of Culver Drive and Irvine Boulevard crashing into a Mercedes Benz carrying Sweet, three other girls and a parent. Sweet sustained a fatal brain injury. Another girl, Krista Merassa, suffered severe injuries, but is expected to survive. The three other occupants of the Benz suffered relatively minor injuries.

A man was seriously injured in a San Diego car accident involving a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV. According to a 10News report, the motorcycle crash occurred at Camino Del Rio North and Fairmount Avenue in San Diego, the morning of May 30, 2011. The report does not specify what caused the motorcycle and the SUV to crash into one another at the intersection. The man riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. An investigation is ongoing.
