Six people were injured, one critically, in a Los Angeles car accident after a flat-bed tow-truck hauling a pickup truck crashed through the front of a Yoshinoya restaurant. According to an ABC news report, the injury collision occurred the morning of July 28, 2011 at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Beverly Boulevard. Police say the driver of the truck lost control of his brakes, ran a red light at the intersection, and struck several cars, before crashing into the restaurant. Six people were taken to area hospitals. One of them sustained life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to the injured victims of this crash. It is indeed fortunate that this truck accident did not happen during peak lunch hour when the restaurant may have been more crowded. A man suffered leg injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after his bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver. According to a City News Service report, the hit-and-run car accident occurred at the intersection of Los Feliz Boulevard and Edgemont Street in Los Feliz the night of July 27, 2011.

The car was traveling west on Los Feliz Boulevard and turned left on southbound Edgemont striking the bicyclist who was eastbound on Los Feliz. The man was treated at a nearby hospital and has been listed in stable condition. Officials are searching for the driver and the vehicle involved. The suspect vehicle has been described as a gray Infiniti G37 with a partial license plate of the vehicle is 6PIC.

A 22-year-old woman, who was killed in an Irvine car accident the afternoon of July 26, 2011, has been identified by officials as 22-year-old Elizabeth Eddleman of Irvine. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car crash occurred at the intersection of University Drive and Rosa Drew Lane in Irvine's University Park community.

Who Had the Right-of-Way?

Police say a 2010 BMW coupe driven by Eddleman was southbound on Rosa Drew Lane when it was struck by a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer traveling west on University Drive. The impact caused the two vehicles to careen toward a postal truck and a minivan at the intersection. Eddleman, who had to be extricated from her vehicle, was transported to an area hospital, but died from her injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 26-year-old Corona del Mar woman, was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, but she is expected to survive. No other injuries were reported. Officials are still looking into which vehicle had the right-of-way at this intersection.

Jonathan Shiebler, 50, was killed in a Ventura car accident involving two pickup trucks. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal car crash occurred at the intersection of Championship Drive and Walnut Canyon Road in Moorpark, the night of July 24, 2011. It is not clear yet what may have caused the two pickup trucks to collide at the intersection. Shiebler was pronounced dead at the accident scene, while the 60-year-old Moorpark man who survived the crash was hospitalized after being extricated from his vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.

Romuald Poghosyan, 82, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when a vehicle struck him as he was walking on the roadway, the morning of July 24, 2011. According to a City News Service report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred near Victory Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Los Angeles. Poghosyan died at the site of the collision. Barry Steele, 52, a Caltrans employee was critically injured in a Riverside car accident after he was struck by a suspected drunk driver, the night of July 20, 2011. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the collision occurred on the westbound side of Highway 91 at Van Buren Boulevard in Riverside. California Highway Patrol officials say 21-year-old Brandi Holmes drove her Mazda into an entrance ramp, which had been blocked off by cones for construction work.

Several workers honked their horns to try and stop Holmes, but she continued down the ramp, struck a Caterpillar loader and a concrete K-rail, before hitting Steele. She then got out of the car and started walking away. But workers at the scene held her until police arrived. Steele suffered a broken neck and leg in addition to other injuries. Holmes was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. An investigation is ongoing.

Charlotte Boyce, 87, was killed in a Temecula car accident, which police say, involved a repeat DUI offender. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal DUI crash occurred on Via Cordoba in Temecula, the morning of July 18, 2011. Boyce was on the sidewalk with her dog when a car driven by Harry Shane Scholes, 55, veered onto the sidewalk and fatally struck them.

Boyce died from her injuries at a hospital in Wildomar shortly after the incident. Scholes was driving on a revoked license because of four previous DUI convictions. His vehicle apparently has an ignition interlock device that detects alcohol but cannot detect prescription drugs. Police arrested Scholes for gross vehicular manslaughter and they have conducted a toxicology test to determine the drugs that were in his system at the time of the crash.

A man in his 60s has suffered life-threatening injuries in a Ventura car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the major injury collision occurred the morning of July 16, 2011, at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Rose Avenue in Oxnard. The man was found lying on the roadway near the intersection. Based on his injuries, police say a vehicle heading west on Pleasant Valley Road struck him. A 24-year-old woman was critically injured in a Long Beach car accident after she was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene. According to a news report in The Press-Telegram, the major injury collision occurred early morning on July 16, 2011 at the intersection of Broadway and Euclid Avenue. Police and paramedics found the woman in an unconscious state under a parked car.

A 52-year-old man was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a hit-and-run driver, the night of July 15, 2011. A male pedestrian who was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving a hit-and-run driver, has died from his injuries, City News Service reports. Los Angeles police officials say the accident occurred early morning on July 15, 2011, when a white van heading east on Florence Avenue, near Main Street, in South Los Angeles hit a pedestrian on the roadway. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. But he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The white van and its driver fled the scene of the crash. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run suspect.

A woman sustained critical injuries in a Costa Mesa car accident after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street, the night of July 13, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred at the intersection of Adams Avenue and Pinecreek Drive, near Orange Coast College. Police say the woman, who is in her late 20s, was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, when a Toyota Scion TC that was eastbound on Adams struck her. Based on preliminary investigations, police say the Scion's driver had the green light. Bryan Hodges, 20, was killed in an Orange County car accident after his motorcycle was struck at an intersection, the evening of July 11, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Euclid Street and Country Hills Drive in La Habra. Hodges was on one of two motorcycles travelling south on Euclid, when a northbound car made a left turn in front of them. One of the motorcyclists was able to avoid the collision. Hodges' motorcycle hit the car and he suffered fatal injuries. The licensed juvenile driving the car has not been cited for the collision. An investigation is ongoing.

Eugene Brand, 35, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after his vehicle crashed into a disabled ice cream truck. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal car accident occurred near Baseline and State streets in San Bernardino, the night of July 10, 2011. Brand was travelling east when his vehicle crashed into the disabled ice cream truck. He suffered fatal injuries, while the ice cream truck driver, who has only been identified as Varela, is expected to survive. It is unclear how the collision occurred or which driver may be at fault. James Carrigan, 59, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when his SUV was rear-ended by another vehicle on the freeway. According to a City News Service report, his wife, 58-year-old Susan Carrigan, was driving their 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer on the 5 Freeway in Castaic, the morning of July 9, 2011, when the SUV was rear-ended by a Mazda. The impact of the collision pushed the SUV into the freeway's guardrail, before it overturned and tumbled into a ravine. James Carrigan was ejected from the SUV and sustained fatal injuries. Susan Carrigan sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are still investigating the cause of this accident.

Ervina Keller, 77, was killed in a Riverside car accident after she was hit by a minivan while crossing the road. Quihua was on his way to help a friend who had been drinking, when a white Ford F-150 pickup truck hit him. The victim passed away from his injuries at a local hospital. A 28-year-old man was injured in a head-on collision in an Anaheim car accident the morning of June 30, 2011. According to an Orange County Register news report, the man was driving a blue Honda Civic northbound on Tustin Avenue. He veered onto the southbound lanes and collided with a Toyota 4Runner. The two occupants of the 4Runner along with the driver of the Honda Civic were taken to a nearby hospital.

A 79-year-old man was injured in a San Francisco area car accident when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed the street. According to a news report in The San Leandro Patch, the pedestrian accident occurred near the Bayfair Mall at Fairmont Drive and Bayfair Way in San Leandro, the morning of June 29, 2011. The man was walking in a crosswalk when a blue, four-door Honda that was turning left hit him. He sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The female driver of the Honda was not arrested and it is not clear if she will be cited for the serious injury accident.
