A 2-year-old girl was injured in an Orange County car accident after her stroller was hit by a tow truck at a street intersection. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Placentia and Chapman avenue in Placentia, the evening of December 26, 2011. A woman and her two children were crossing the street when the tow truck hit them. The driver did not see the pedestrians crossing, police said. The tow truck continued to travel north on Chapman until another driver, who had followed the truck, stopped it. The toddler was knocked off her stroller. The girl was transported to an area trauma center for treatment of multiple injuries. Her mother and the other child were uninjured. An investigation is ongoing.

A recent fullerton-related motorcycle accident occurred recently: Jeff Rupp, a government and philosophy teacher at Fullerton Union High School, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. While riding his 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the northbound lanes of Euclid Street he was struck by a 2004 Hyundai sedan making a left turn from the southbound lane onto Malvern Avenue. He sustained head injuries and broken bones and was transported to UCI Medical Center.

Heather Peters a Honda Civic Hybrid owner claims that her 2006 sedan does not live up to its promise. The auto manufacturer had made claims that the Civic hybrid would receive about 50 miles per gallon. Because of technical issues, the car has received only 30 miles per gallon.

Peters is not the only one who has noticed a dwindling gas tank. In fact, a recent class action settlement against Honda resulted in rebate coupon to purchase a new vehicle and an award to Hybrid owners that is as little as $100 each.

For many Honda hybrid owners this is the end of the road. They will receive their check and use it to fill up their gas for the week. Peters, however, has refused the settlement. As a consumer, she has decided that Honda's settlement is unacceptable.

Ella Anne Jefferson, 69, of Hemet, was killed in a Riverside car accident, which officials say, involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news article in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal DUI collision occurred on Domenigoni Parkway near Leon Road in Winchester, the morning of December 26, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials report Ryan Mahan, 20, was speeding and weaving through traffic as he headed west on Domenigoni Parkway, when he lost control of his vehicle, which jumped over the curb and dirt divider. Mahan's 2003 Saturn Ion then traveled into the eastbound fast lane where it crashed head-on into Jefferson's gold 2011 Toyota Camry. Jefferson sustained fatal injuries, while Mahan suffered two broken legs and internal injuries. He is expected to be charged with felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Jennifer Lynne Jensen, 53, was killed in Los Angeles car accident after a vehicle making a U-turn struck her motorcycle, the afternoon of December 23, 2011. According to news reports in The Daily Breeze and The Easy Reader, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Eighth Street in Manhattan Beach. Manhattan Beach police say a 17-year-old male driving north on Sepulveda Boulevard made a U-turn at Eighth Street just as Jensen was entering the intersection on a green light. Jensen was unable to stop in time and hit the 1997 Toyota. She was thrown off her motorcycle and landed on the roadway. Although she was wearing a helmet, Jensen suffered serious head injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she died. Two passengers in the Toyota were also treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

A teenager was critically injured in a Ventura car accident after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck by a suspected drunk driver who then fled the scene. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the injury collision occurred in Simi Valley the night of December 22, 2011. Police say 20-year-old Nicolas Budfuloski, exited the driveway of Ralph's in the 2700 block of Los Angeles Avenue and was hit by a vehicle while he was attempting to make a westbound turn.

Hit-and-Run

The driver of the other vehicle, who was later identified as Arturo Sanchez, fled the scene on foot. One of Budfuloski's two passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle. The boy suffered pulmonary contusions and blunt force trauma. Budfuloski and the other passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Sanchez was arrested shortly after the crash and was charged with felony DUI causing injury.

Actress Brigitte Nielsen was injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, was caused by a suspected drunk driver. According to news reports in Aceshowbiz.com and TMZ, the injury collision occurred in Los Angeles the night of December 21, 2011. Officials say that the Porsche Cayenne in which Nielsen was a passenger, was struck from behind by a Toyota Matrix whose driver was under the influence.

The impact from the rear-end collision caused the Porsche to hit another car in front. Nielsen was transported to a local hospital for internal bleeding checks and a CAT scan. She was sent home later that night and reportedly suffered non-life-threatening head and neck injuries. TMZ reports that the female driver of the Toyota "blew well over 0.08 percent" during a Breathalyzer test. An investigation is ongoing.

A 19-year-old man was seriously injured in an El Monte car accident after a vehicle exiting a driveway struck him, the afternoon of December 20, 2011. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury collision occurred on Ramona Boulevard near Penn Mar Avenue. El Monte police officials say the motorcycle was heading west on Ramona Boulevard when a vehicle pulled out of a driveway into Ramona and in front of the rider. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off his bike and sustained major injuries. He was transported to an area hospital. The driver has not been cited pending an official investigation.

Anthony Simile, 22, was severely injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a car struck his moped, the night of December 15, 2011. According to a news report in The La Canada Sun, the motorcycle accident occurred at the Fresh and Easy parking lot in Burbank. Officials say Simile was ejected from his moped after the collision at Sparks Street and Verdugo Avenue, and suffered a fracture to his top right thighbone that was so severe that he required surgery. The suspect, Danny Jesus Garcia, 41, left the scene of the crash, but was tracked down shortly after the incident. Authorities found methamphetamines in his possession, and arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.

David Landowski, 53, of Canyon County, was injured in a Los Angeles car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a driver, who officials say, made an unsafe left turn. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Lindley Avenue and Rayen Street in Northridge, the evening of December 16, 2011. Officials say Landowski was travelling south on Lindley when a northbound Ford Explorer, driven by 62-year-old old Charles Giarratana, attempted a left turn in front of his KTM 620SX motorcycle. Landowski suffered severe injuries in the crash. It is not clear if Giarratana will be cited or if he will face charges in connection with this injury collision.

Three people were injured in an Orange County car accident, which officials say, was caused by a driver who may have turned at a red light. Sergio Mendez, a 30-year-old former U.S. Marine was killed in a Ventura County car accident after a driver who fell asleep at the wheel crashed into a Starbucks store and struck him. According to a KABC news report, the fatal accident occurred on Ventura Street in Fillmore, the night of December 13, 2011. Officials say Michael Cedarland, an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, fell asleep behind the wheel of an SUV. The vehicle travelled approximately 300 feet from the road and into the building. Mendez was pinned between the vehicle and a wall inside the coffee shop. He sustained multiple injuries and died during emergency surgery at a nearby hospital. Jose Iraheta of Lancaster and Thomas Michaels of Piru, were treated and released for minor injuries. Cedarland was not injured and has not been arrested pending an official investigation.

Teresa Pimentel, 72, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials report, involved a hit-and-run driver.
