Richard Jeans Jr., 73, was killed in a Huntington Beach car accident after a car struck him in an unmarked crosswalk. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Jeans was riding his mobility scooter on Beach Boulevard the night of November 19, 2016 at the intersection of Taylor Drive in an unmarked crosswalk when a Mazda Protégé traveling north struck him.

When police arrived, they found Jean critically injured and lying in the roadway next to his scooter. No arrests or citations were reported. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in this collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Huntington Beach police at 714-536-5666 or 714-960-8825. Two teen males died and a woman was injured in a two-car accident in West Hills, which officials say, may have involved street-racing. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the incident occurred the evening of November 13, 2014 at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Platt Avenue. Luis Torres, 15, a Santa Ana student, was killed in a car accident on the 57 Freeway early morning on September 4, 2016. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal accident occurred on the freeway just north of the Yorba Linda Boulevard off-ramp. Torres was sitting the back of a 2009 Honda that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway in Fullerton. A woman driving a 2015 Honda swerved off the freeway lanes and onto the shoulder, striking the 2009 Honda.

Torres was in the left rear seat and died of head injuries. A woman, identified as Jennifer Baca, sitting in the stopped Honda, also suffered fractured ribs and sternum as a result of the crash. Two other people standing outside the stopped car when the crash occurred were not injured. The driver of the 2015 Honda, 28-year-old Nicole Cortinas of Moreno Valley, suffered a broken back, but was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Continue reading →

A 7-year-old girl was killed and her 13-year-old sister was in critical condition after an SUV slammed into a Tesla in the carpool lane on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach the morning of August 15, 2016. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a Chevy Tahoe crossed over the double yellow lines near the Seal Beach Boulevard exit on the northbound 405, crossed into the carpool lane and rear-ended the 2015 Tesla. Both girls were riding in the back seat. Their car was pushed into a Honda Civic.

The two girls and their father were transported to an area hospital. The 7-year-old succumbed to her injuries. The 13-year-old girl remains in critical condition while their father is in serious condition. California Highway Patrol officials arrested the driver of the Tahoe, 36-year-old Adam Kanas, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

One person was killed and four others were injured in a car accident in Beverly Hills. According to a Canyon News report, the fatal accident occurred early morning on June 6, 2016 at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard. LAPD officials said investigators are looking into whether one of the drivers was intoxicated or ran a red light at the intersection. Paramedics transported four people including three men and one woman to area hospitals.

KTLA reported that witnesses saw one vehicle run the red light and broadside an SUV at the intersection. One witness said the driver of the sedan was going at a high rate of speed. There were no skid marks on the roadway indicating that the driver attempted to stop. Officials don’t believe street racing was a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

Ten people, including nine children and an adult, were injured after a 70-year-old woman drove onto a sidewalk and slammed into a large group of children waiting to be picked up after school. According to an NBC San Diego news report, the crash occurred the afternoon of May 13, 2016. Police say the woman was backing into a parking spot when she hit another vehicle, panicked and put the car into drive and hit the gas. Two cars were involved in an Anaheim car accident later morning on March 3, 2016 after one of them ran a red light. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a Ford Escape traveling south on South Magnolia Avenue collided with a black Mercedes-Benz going west on West Broadway. One of the drivers ran a red light, but it was not clear which driver did that. The collision caused the Ford Escape to roll onto its roof. The driver of that car was transported to an area hospital. Mitchell Viturino, 61, was fatally injured in a car accident early morning on February 8, 2016 after officials say a speeding driver ran a red light and struck his vehicle. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of North Bristol Street and West 1st Street when a 2006 Mercedes speeding southbound ran a red light and broadsided a 1999 Ford Mustang headed eastbound. The driver of the Ford Mustang, Viturino, died from his injuries.

After the collision, witnesses reported seeing two injured men leave the Mercedes. A man in his 40s was lying in the grass. He was taken to an area trauma center for back and hip pain. Another man officials suspect was in the Mercedes during the collision suffered a broken leg and minor cuts. Both men denied being the driver, but officials believe one of them was the driver. Investigators are processing blood evidence left in the car, which they hope will help identify the driver.

Car AccidentAlexander Nguyen, 69, was killed in a Stanton car accident after his vehicle collided with an SUV at a street intersection.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred the afternoon of November 15, 2015 at the intersection of Fern and Cerritos avenues in Stanton.

Police say Nguyen was driving with his wife in a Honda CR-V traveling south on Fern Avenue when he stopped at a stop sign at the Cerritos Avenue intersection.
