One man was killed and eight others were injured in a North Hills rollover crash triggered by a 20-year-old woman who ran a red light and crashed into a minivan at a street intersection the morning of April 17, 2016. According to a Fox 11 news report, the driver, Saidy Samayoa, was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash at Sepulveda Boulevard and Parthenia Street. A driver was killed after a rear wheel dislodged from a vehicle causing it to roll over.

According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal rollover accident occurred the morning of February 13, 2015 at Avenue N near 35th Street West.

Officials say the driver of a 1969 Land Cruiser was traveling west on Avenue N near 35th Street West at about 50 mph.

Three people from Los Angeles were killed in an SUV rollover crash when their 2001 Ford Expedition had a tire blowout and veered out of control.

According to a KABC news report, the fatal crash occurred the afternoon of December 20, 2014 in Fallbrook.

At least 12 people were injured after a charter passenger van rolled over after blowing a tire.

According to a news report in The Acorn, the van blew a tire the afternoon of August 7, 2014 on the northbound 101 Freeway near Lynn Road, hit the center divider, struck a tractor-trailer and overturned.

About half of the 12 victims suffered moderate injuries and the others suffered relatively minor injuries, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Santa Ana resident, 63-year-old Piedad Orozco, died and eight others were severely injured in an SUV rollover accident in Fresno that was caused by a blown-out tire. The Orange County Register reports that the incident occurred the afternoon of February 16, 2013.

California Highway Patrol officials say the driver, 43-year-old Adan Acosta, was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition going 80 to 85 mph when the right rear tire blew out. The vehicle rolled several times, finally resting on its wheels by the center median on the 5 Freeway north near Kamm Avenue.

Orozco died at the scene. Officials suspect Orozco was not wearing a seatbelt. Acosta was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. Officials said Yesenia Villicana, 21, Rosa Villicana, 42, and three minors ages 17, 8 and 13 were taken to area hospitals with moderate injuries. Nevia Villicana, 19, and Bianca Maynor, 21, were also taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A rollover crash in Hemet caused serious injuries to a woman the afternoon of July 31, 2012. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury crash occurred on Menlo Avenue. Officials say the woman was driving east on Menlo at about 35 mph when her 2008 Honda Civic struck a ditch near Buchanan Street and rolled over several times. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital after complaining of chest pains. No one else was injured. Investigators are looking into what caused this rollover crash.

Alex Rocha, 11, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after the vehicle in which he was a passenger rolled over and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal rollover accident occurred on Highway 95 near Highway 62, the morning of June 6, 2011. The driver of the vehicle veered off the northbound 95 and then attempted to steer back onto the roadway. This caused the vehicle to roll over. Alex died at the scene of the crash. His mother and sisters also sustained injuries in this accident. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the cause of this car accident.

A 28-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after their car overturned on the freeway. According to a news report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the injury crash occurred the morning of March 30, 2011 on the 57 Freeway near Temple Avenue in Pomona. The woman was driving a Toyota Camry when for an unknown reason, she veered to the left. The car then rolled over several times before colliding with the center median. The woman sustained moderate injuries while her daughter suffered relatively minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.

My heart goes out to the mother and daughter who have been injured in this rollover accident. I’m relieved that neither one of them sustained life-threatening injuries given the intensity of this accident. I wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were six fatalities and 717 injuries involving car accidents in Pomona. In Los Angeles County as a whole, 667 people died and 52,229 were injured as a result of car accidents during the same year.

Lance Cpl. Brian J. Adams, 21, of the U.S. Marines and Charles Hutchinson, 20, were fatally injured in a Riverside car accident the morning of November 26, 2009. According to a 10news report, the fatal car accident occurred on the eastbound state Route 62, near Desert Willow Trail early morning on Thanksgiving Day. Adams died at the scene. Hutchinson, who was the driver, died the following day in a local hospital. Another passenger in the Saturn was also injured, but is said to be in stable condition. The California Highway Patrol is investigating this tragic crash.

Three people were hospitalized with injuries in an October 6, 2009 Riverside car accident after two vehicles went off the right side of the 10 Freeway and crashed. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the accident occurred on the 10 East near Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City. California Highway Patrol officers say they don’t know if the two vehicles collided. One car overturned a few yards from the roadway and the other went down and back up an embankment at a high rate of speed and flew over a fence before coming to a stop. The driver of the vehicle that rolled over was ejected. A passenger in that vehicle suffered back injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also injured. All three were taken to an area hospital.
