Mattress on the Roadway May Have Caused Fatal Motorcycle Accident
Eugenio Lopez, 33, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle struck a Toyota pickup. According to a City News Service report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on the 110 Freeway, near Adams Boulevard, in Los Angeles, during the early morning hours of September 10, 2011. The pickup truck had crashed into the center divider before the motorcycle hit it. The victim's bike ended up underneath the truck and both vehicles burst into flames. The authorities report that the collision may have resulted from the motorists attempting to avoid a mattress that was lying on the roadway. Lopez was killed in the accident, while the three occupants of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
