Pedestrian Critically Injured in Ventura Car Accident

A man was severely injured in a Ventura car accident after a car exited a parking lot and hit him, the afternoon of February 1, 2012. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the pedestrian accident occurred on Spring Road near Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark. Officials say a female driver was exiting a parking lot to travel south when she struck the man. The victim was transported to a Thousand Oaks hospital where he was listed in critical condition. It is unclear if the motorist will be cited for the collision. An investigation is ongoing.

San Diego Car Accident Injures Bicyclist

A woman in her 20s was injured in a San Diego car accident after a Ford SUV hit her bicycle. According to a news report in U-T San Diego, the bicycle accident occurred on Girard Avenue at Pearl Street in La Jolla, the evening of January 31, 2012. Officials say the bicyclist was crossing the street on a flashing red light when the SUV struck her. She suffered an open leg fracture. It is not clear if the female driver who struck the victim will be cited for the collision.

Fatal Victorville Car Accident Caused by Red Light Runner

Andrew Joseph Brown, 47, of Apply Valley, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident, which officials say involved a driver running a red light. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Industrial Boulevard near Hesperia Road in Victorville, during the early morning hours of January 30, 2012. Officials say a 22-year-old Lucerne Valley man drove his 2003 Saturn station wagon through a red light and broadsided a 1993 Buick that was making a left turn. Brown was transported to an area hospital where he died. The investigation is ongoing.

Sacramento Woman Arrested in Deadly Fairfield DUI Crash

January 30, 2012—Fairfield, CA—a 42-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested in a deadly crash on I-80 near Fairfield early Sunday morning. Authorities are charging the woman with DUI and possession of a firearm.

Michelle Henry was operating a Buick Lucerne in the westbound lane of I-80 at a very high rate of speed early Sunday morning when she rear-ended a Ford Explorer. Both vehicles overturned, and the Explorer landed on its roof in the eastbound lane.

As one of the passengers, a 25-year-old Sacramento man, emerged from the vehicle and attempted to help another passenger, a Toyota struck the rear of the Explorer. The Explorer hit the man and threw him across the roadway into the westbound lanes, where he was killed. The driver of the Explorer was also killed in the fatal car accident.

Pedestrian Critically Injured in Compton Hit-and-Run Crash

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a Compton car accident, which officials said involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a City News Service report, the injury collision occurred the evening of January 28, 2012. The pedestrian was walking northbound on Compton Boulevard near Williams Avenue when a motorist who was driving a maroon four-door sedan hit him. The driver fled the scene of the crash. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Woman Killed in Anaheim Car Accident

Kyung Namgoong, 53, of Buena Park, was killed in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say involved a suspected drunk driver who was traveling the wrong way on the freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred during the early morning hours of January 29, 2012 on the westbound 91 Freeway at Coal Canyon, in Anaheim.

California Highway Patrol officials say the Toyota Camry, in which Namgoong was a passenger, was struck by a wrong-way driver identified as 23-year-old Ruben Gurrola. He has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver of the Camry, a 58-year-old Buena Park man, and the 24-year-old female passenger in Gurrola's Honda Civic, were transported to local hospitals with traumatic injuries.

Pedestrian Killed in Riverside County Car Accident

Brigitte Jasso, 44, was killed in a Riverside County car accident after she was struck by two vehicles while crossing a busy roadway. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the night of January 26, 2012 on Indio Boulevard east of Biskra Street. Officials say Jasso was first struck by a motorcyclist. Moments later, a black Ford Taurus hit the victim. She sustained fatal injuries. The motorcyclist sustained scrapes, bruises and some broken bones. Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash. No arrests or citations have been issued yet.

Truck Driver Killed in San Bernardino County Car Accident

Alfred Eclipse Jr., 66, a truck driver from Norwalk, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after the UPS big-rig he was driving overturned. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal truck accident occurred along Interstate 15 south of Oak Hills Road in Hesperia, the morning of January 25, 2012. Officials say a 32-year-old San Bernardino man allowed his Nissan 350z, to drift into the center divider and then back across lanes where it struck the truck's left front wheel. The truck driver attempted to avoid the collision but could not. The truck rolled over onto the shoulder and down an embankment, killing the driver. The driver of the sports car was not seriously hurt. It is not clear if he was cited for the fatal crash.

Three Injured in San Diego Pedestrian Accident

A toddler and two women were injured in a San Diego car accident after a vehicle struck them as they crossed the street. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the injury collision occurred the afternoon of January 24, 2012 at the intersection of Tiger Way and Positive Place in San Marcos. Five Injured in San Juan Capistrano Car Accident

Five people were injured, one critically, in a San Juan Capistrano car accident, which officials say involved six vehicles. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the evening of January 21, 2012 at the intersection of Ortega Highway and Camino Capistrano, near Mission San Juan Capistrano, in the downtown area.

Police report a 79-year-old woman, who was driving west on Ortega Highway, made a right turn on Camino Capistrano and then crossed over into opposing lanes of traffic striking at least two other vehicles head-on. Three other cars were involved in the crash. The woman and four others were taken to area hospitals. Police are looking into whether speed was a factor in this crash.
