A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a Compton car accident, which officials said involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a City News Service report, the injury collision occurred the evening of January 28, 2012. The pedestrian was walking northbound on Compton Boulevard near Williams Avenue when a motorist who was driving a maroon four-door sedan hit him. The driver fled the scene of the crash. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Woman Killed in Anaheim Car Accident

Kyung Namgoong, 53, of Buena Park, was killed in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say involved a suspected drunk driver who was traveling the wrong way on the freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred during the early morning hours of January 29, 2012 on the westbound 91 Freeway at Coal Canyon, in Anaheim.

California Highway Patrol officials say the Toyota Camry, in which Namgoong was a passenger, was struck by a wrong-way driver identified as 23-year-old Ruben Gurrola. He has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver of the Camry, a 58-year-old Buena Park man, and the 24-year-old female passenger in Gurrola's Honda Civic, were transported to local hospitals with traumatic injuries.

Three Injured in San Diego Pedestrian Accident

A toddler and two women were injured in a San Diego car accident after a vehicle struck them as they crossed the street. Five Injured in San Juan Capistrano Car Accident

Five people were injured, one critically, in a San Juan Capistrano car accident, which officials say involved six vehicles. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the evening of January 21, 2012 at the intersection of Ortega Highway and Camino Capistrano, near Mission San Juan Capistrano, in the downtown area.

Police report a 79-year-old woman, who was driving west on Ortega Highway, made a right turn on Camino Capistrano and then crossed over into opposing lanes of traffic striking at least two other vehicles head-on. Five Injured in Riverside County Car Accident

Five people suffered injuries in a Riverside car accident, which officials say was caused by a red light runner. According to a report in The Southwest Riverside News Network, the injury collision occurred the morning of January 16, 2012 at the intersection of Gerald Ford and Bob Hope drives in Rancho Mirage. A motorist, who was driving a Pontiac GTO east on Gerald Ford, ran a red light at the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and slammed into a vehicle crossing the intersection southbound. The Pontiac then hit a Mercedes-Benz, which collided with a pickup truck. Five people sustained injuries of which two required hospitalization.

Woman Injured in Ventura Hit-and-Run Car Accident

Joyce Yamani, 69, was severely injured in a Ventura car accident after, officials say, a hit-and-run teenage drunk driver struck her power scooter. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the hit-and-run accident occurred along Mills Road near Preble Avenue in Ventura, the afternoon of January 16, 2012. Officials say Andres Covarrubias, 18, lost control of his vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed and struck Yamani. He then hit a parked vehicle, backed up and drove away. Yamani suffered serious injuries in the crash. Covarrubias was located with the help of witnesses, and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

Girl Injured in Whittier Hit-and-Run Car Accident

Lany Castillo, 3, was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved a drunk driver who fled the scene. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the DUI collision occurred on Mulberry Drive at Laurel Avenue in Whittier, the afternoon of January 13, 2012. Officials say Matthew Parker, 25, of Garden Grove, was intoxicated and speeding when he drove his Toyota Highlander through a red light and crashed into a Toyota Corolla. Lany suffered major head trauma in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital. Her grandmother, Estella Garcia, suffered major injuries as well, while her grandfather, Jorge Garcia, 55, sustained relatively minor injuries. Officials arrested Parker shortly after the incident and charged him with felony drunk driving and felony hit-and-run.

Three Killed in Paramount Car Accident

Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident after the driver lost control and crashed, the early morning of January 13, 2012. According to an NBC Los Angeles web site, the accident occurred at the intersection of Downey Avenue and Somerset Ranch Road in Paramount. Officials say a Chevy Tahoe SUV was traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph in a 35-mph zone when the driver lost control near the 105 Freeway overpass. The SUV hit the curb, a fire hydrant and a light post. The vehicle then rolled over and caught fire. Five people were ejected. Two of them died. A female passenger, who was found inside the SUV, died as well. Three others suffered serious injuries, but are expected to survive. All of the victims were in their early 20s.

Paul Tetu was injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver, the evening of January 9, 2012. According to a news report in The Monrovia Patch, the injury crash occurred near the intersection of Violet Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in Monrovia. The report states Tetu was struck from behind by the vehicle and hit his head. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver left the scene of the crash, but was located and being interviewed by police. The driver, who has not yet been identified, is expected to be charged. A friend of the victim said Tetu is "pretty banged up." He said Tetu "hit his head and doesn't remember anything."

DUI Collision Near SeaWorld Causes Injuries

Five people, including a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old, were injured in a San Diego car accident, which officials say, was caused by a suspected drunk driver, the afternoon of January 8, 2012. According to a news report in UT San Diego, the injury collision occurred on a bridge over the San Diego River on West Mission Bay Drive. Police say a silver Mazda driven by 29-year-old Kaleb Clark hit a sedan carrying a woman and two children. The woman's car then struck another vehicle.

Five people were transported to the hospital, but only the 3-year-old and a passenger in Clark's car were seriously injured, officials said. The 3 year-old sustained a broken leg and loose teeth while the passenger suffered serious, nonfatal injuries after hitting the car's windshield. Clark rode with a friend, in an ambulance, to the hospital and then fled. Police are asking Clark to turn himself in as soon as possible. An investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Injured in San Diego Hit-and-Run Crash

A pedestrian, identified by officials as Gloria Serrano, was severely injured in a San Diego car accident involving a hit-and-run driver, the evening of January 5, 2012. According to a 10News report, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Otay Lakes Road and Elmhurst Street. Serrano was attempting to cross at the intersection when a northbound sedan hit her. Serrano suffered a serious injury to her right arm and was transported to an area hospital. According to a news report in the Victorville Daily Press, the injury collision occurred on the Mojave Drive onramp to the northbound Interstate 15. Officials say a man driving a blue Geo was making a left turn onto the onramp when an Apple Valley woman, who was westbound on Mojave Drive, ran a red light and struck the Geo. The impact of the collision caused the Geo to be split in two. The driver of the Geo was transported to an area hospital as was the other driver. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Toddler Injured in Orange County Car Accident
