Christine Gilbert, 29, of Long Beach, was fatally injured in an Orange County car accident after the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed with another car and rolled over. According to The Orange County Register, the collision occurred on the westbound 91 Freeway near Walker Street, early morning on September 15, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say Gilbert was riding in a 2010 Toyota Corolla with two other people when it hit a 1999 Honda Accord. The Toyota veered off the highway and rolled over several times. Gilbert sustained fatal injuries after she was ejected from the vehicle. The Toyota's driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation is ongoing.

Four people were killed and two were injured in a Los Angeles area car accident after their vehicle went out of control and flew off the 134 Freeway. According to the Los Angeles Times, the fatal crash occurred the night of August 12, 2012 on the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock. California Highway Patrol officials say a 1999 Ford Expedition that was traveling east in the far left lane hit an asphalt curb, rolled twice and fell through the space between the bridges and about 35 feet onto North Figueroa Street.

Tire Blowout

Witnesses told officials that the Expedition's driver lost control after a problem with one of the tires. Tire debris was coming off the vehicle before it rolled, officials said. Three people including a 11-year-old girl, a man and a woman died at the scene. Another man died later at the hospital. Two others, a woman and a 6-year-old girl who was thrown from the SUV before it fell off the freeway, remain hospitalized. An investigation is ongoing.

Latrelle Pearson, 10, and 9-year-old Xavier Williams were fatally injured in a car crash in San Diego, which officials say may have been caused by an unsafe lane change. According to a City News Service report, the fatal crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 15 near Escondido, the afternoon of July 15, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say that a 2002 Dodge Caravan minivan carrying seven passengers including the two boys, collided with a 2008 Scion. The minivan spun out and overturned north of Deer Springs Road.

Latrelle, who officials say was not buckled up, was thrown onto the roadway. Xavier, who was wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected. Both boys died at the scene. The driver of the Caravan, Roy Ruffin Jr., 52, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Four other passengers in the minivan were transported to area hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Lisa Wehus, 24, the driver of the Scion, was not injured. Officials are still looking into the exact cause of the crash, but say that it may have been caused by an attempted lane change on the part of one of the two drivers.

Sann King, 58, was fatally injured in a Laguna Beach car accident when her Mercedes-Benz went off a canyon road, the afternoon of July 13, 2012. According to a City News Service report, the rollover accident occurred off Laguna Canyon Road north of Route 73 in Laguna Beach. Officials say King's vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times. It is unclear what caused her black, mid 1990’s sedan to exit the roadway.

A woman suffered severe injuries in a Huntington Beach auto accident, which officials say involved a suspected DUI driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the crash occurred the afternoon of June 25, 2012 at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Algonquin Street. Fidel Barrera, 22, the driver of a Toyota 4Runner, was traveling east on Warner when he lost control of the SUV. The vehicle rolled over several times. The female passenger was trapped inside the 4Runner and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. Barrera was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence as well as driving on a suspended license. Toxicology tests are pending. The crash is under investigation and police are asking witnesses to call 714-536-5670.

Jonathan Cuevas, 20, was fatally injured in a Riverside car accident, which officials say involved a suspected drunk driver. According to The Press-Enterprise, the incident occurred the morning of June 9, 2012. Cuevas was a passenger in a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo being driven by an 18-year-old and traveling east on Arlington Avenue near Fairhaven Drive. The vehicle rounded a curve at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The Isuzu SUV rolled numerous times. Cuevas was ejected from the vehicle. Officials suspect that he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, and was determined to have been under the influence at the time.

Three women were hospitalized with injuries after a Los Angeles County car accident when their car left the freeway and went into the San Gabriel Riverbed. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury crash occurred the afternoon of May 23, 2012 in the southbound lanes of the 605 Freeway near Ramona Boulevard in Irwindale.

California Highway Patrol officials say one of the women was driving the Honda sedan in the number three lane. The driver tried to suddenly take an exit and lost control of the car. The vehicle veered to the right side of the roadway and rolled, coming to a stop on its roof about 75 feet down into the riverbed. One of the passengers was ejected. All three woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Armando Martinez, 25, was killed and two children were injured in a San Bernardino County car accident involving a Ford SUV rollover, the night of May 19, 2012. According to The Press-Enterprise, the fatal rollover crash occurred on Koala Road near Auburn Avenue in Adelanto. Officials say Martinez was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 1998 Ford Expedition and it went off the roadway. Martinez was ejected during the crash and fatally injured. Two children, ages 7 and 2, were also ejected and hospitalized following the accident. It is not clear what caused the vehicle to roll over or if the occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Two adults and two children suffered life-threatening injuries in a Seal Beach car accident, which officials say involved two cars. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred the afternoon of April 1, 2012 on the southbound 405 Freeway near Seal Beach Boulevard. California Highway Patrol officials say the two vehicles involved in the crash collided and one of the vehicles overturned onto the dirt embankment on the side of the roadway. Two adults and two children from the vehicle that rolled over were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries. Officials are still looking into what caused this accident.

Luis Gonsalez, 28, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after his Ford Explorer SUV veered off the roadway and rolled over. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal car accident occurred the morning of May 14, 2011 on the Sierra Highway near Newhall Road in Santa Clarita. The Ford SUV hit an embankment and rolled over many times. Gonsalez sustained fatal injuries. No other vehicles were involved. An investigation is ongoing.

According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 11 deaths and 552 injuries involving car accidents in Santa Clarita. In Los Angeles County as a whole, 667 people died and 52,229 were injured as a result of car accidents during the same year.

Donna Louise Fatheree, 46, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident September 21, 2009, after she struck a car whose driver was attempting to make a left turn at an intersection. According to a news report in the Victorville Daily Press, Fatheree was driving a 1994 Dodge van east on Highway 18 in Apple Valley, California, when she entered the intersection of Highway 18 and Flathead Road and crashed into a Chevy Avalanche that was going west on Highway 18. The driver of the Avalanche was apparently trying to turn left onto Flathead at the time, San Bernardino Sheriff's officials said.

One person was hospitalized with injures in an Orange County car accident after an SUV overturned in a single-car accident, The Orange County Register reports. The car accident reportedly occurred on August 10, 2009 when the Dodge Durango hit a tree in the center divider on Edinger Avenue between Brookhurst and Euclid streets. The Dodge SUV flipped on to its roof. The SUV's driver sustained injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Three members of a family traveling home to Colorado from California, were killed in a rollover car accident on July 13, 2009 in Wyoming, according to a news report in the Littleton Independent. Dodi Arnold, 45, and her two daughters--24-year-old Kinni and 15-year-old Bailey--were killed. Jonathan Arnold, 43, the father and daughter, 16-year-old Dellen Arnold, suffered injuries but are recovering.

Wyoming State Patrol officials say this is one of the worst rollover car accidents they have seen in those parts. They say the fatal car accident occurred when a semi-truck caused Dellen, an inexperienced driver, to overcorrect the vehicle just east of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Dellen was driving the family's 2009 Chevy Suburban when a big rig began to change lanes. The Suburban may have been in the trucker's blind spot, officials say. Once the semi changed lanes, the Suburban's right tires were pushed into the inside of the rumble strip. Apparently an experienced driver may have been able to maneuver the SUV away from the semi, but the teen had problems controlling the vehicle. Police say drugs, alcohol or speed were not factors in this car crash.

Karen Hernandez, 65, died in a San Bernardino County rollover car accident as she veered off the 15 Freeway in Fontana the evening of June 12, 2009, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports. Hernandez's Chevrolet S10 pickup truck apparently went off the road from the number two lane and rolled over several times before it came to rest on a south embankment, California Highway Patrol officials said. Hernandez was declared dead shortly after the rollover car crash.

In San Bernardino County as a whole, 308 fatalities and 9,920 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2007. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that at least 10,000 people die in the United States each year as a result of rollover accidents.

A woman was seriously injured in an Orange County rollover car accident after the Pontiac sedan she was driving overturned on the southbound 5 Freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the woman apparently swerved the car to avoid tire tread debris on the freeway and lost control the morning of June 10, 2009. The woman sustained head injuries and was transported to an area hospital. No one else was in the car at the time of the crash.
