Andrew Joseph Brown, 47, of Apply Valley, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident, which officials say involved a driver running a red light. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Industrial Boulevard near Hesperia Road in Victorville, during the early morning hours of January 30, 2012. Officials say a 22-year-old Lucerne Valley man drove his 2003 Saturn station wagon through a red light and broadsided a 1993 Buick that was making a left turn. Brown was transported to an area hospital where he died. The investigation is ongoing.

Kyung Namgoong, 53, of Buena Park, was killed in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say involved a suspected drunk driver who was traveling the wrong way on the freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred during the early morning hours of January 29, 2012 on the westbound 91 Freeway at Coal Canyon, in Anaheim.

California Highway Patrol officials say the Toyota Camry, in which Namgoong was a passenger, was struck by a wrong-way driver identified as 23-year-old Ruben Gurrola. He has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver of the Camry, a 58-year-old Buena Park man, and the 24-year-old female passenger in Gurrola's Honda Civic, were transported to local hospitals with traumatic injuries.

Brigitte Jasso, 44, was killed in a Riverside County car accident after she was struck by two vehicles while crossing a busy roadway. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the night of January 26, 2012 on Indio Boulevard east of Biskra Street. Officials say Jasso was first struck by a motorcyclist. Moments later, a black Ford Taurus hit the victim. She sustained fatal injuries. The motorcyclist sustained scrapes, bruises and some broken bones. Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash. No arrests or citations have been issued yet.

Alfred Eclipse Jr., 66, a truck driver from Norwalk, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after the UPS big-rig he was driving overturned. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal truck accident occurred along Interstate 15 south of Oak Hills Road in Hesperia, the morning of January 25, 2012. Officials say a 32-year-old San Bernardino man allowed his Nissan 350z, to drift into the center divider and then back across lanes where it struck the truck's left front wheel. The truck driver attempted to avoid the collision but could not. The truck rolled over onto the shoulder and down an embankment, killing the driver. The driver of the sports car was not seriously hurt. It is not clear if he was cited for the fatal crash.

A 77-year-old man was killed in a Chula Vista car accident after he was hit by an SUV that was exiting a parking lot, the morning of January 19, 2012. According to a U-T San Diego news report, the fatal bicycle collision occurred on Fourth Avenue near L Street in Chula Vista. Officials say, the victim was riding his bike on Fourth Avenue when a Jeep Liberty that was pulling out of Rice Elementary School's parking lot, struck him. The cyclist was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver has been described as an elderly woman. An investigation is ongoing.

Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident after the driver lost control and crashed, the early morning of January 13, 2012. According to an NBC Los Angeles web site, the accident occurred at the intersection of Downey Avenue and Somerset Ranch Road in Paramount. Officials say a Chevy Tahoe SUV was traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph in a 35-mph zone when the driver lost control near the 105 Freeway overpass. The SUV hit the curb, a fire hydrant and a light post. The vehicle then rolled over and caught fire. Five people were ejected. Two of them died. A female passenger, who was found inside the SUV, died as well. Three others suffered serious injuries, but are expected to survive. All of the victims were in their early 20s.

Rigoberto Morales-Reyes, 50, was killed in a Riverside car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the hit-and-run crash occurred on Harrison Street near Avenue 50 in Coachella, the evening of January 2, 2012. Morales-Reyes was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. The vehicle that struck Morales-Reyes fled the scene.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a light-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry, which was last seen traveling north on Grapefruit Boulevard from Harrison Street. The vehicle also sustained damage to its front headlights, hood and grill. Ella Anne Jefferson, 69, of Hemet, was killed in a Riverside car accident, which officials say, involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news article in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal DUI collision occurred on Domenigoni Parkway near Leon Road in Winchester, the morning of December 26, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials report Ryan Mahan, 20, was speeding and weaving through traffic as he headed west on Domenigoni Parkway, when he lost control of his vehicle, which jumped over the curb and dirt divider. Mahan's 2003 Saturn Ion then traveled into the eastbound fast lane where it crashed head-on into Jefferson's gold 2011 Toyota Camry. Jefferson sustained fatal injuries, while Mahan suffered two broken legs and internal injuries. He is expected to be charged with felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Jennifer Lynne Jensen, 53, was killed in Los Angeles car accident after a vehicle making a U-turn struck her motorcycle, the afternoon of December 23, 2011. According to news reports in The Daily Breeze and The Easy Reader, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Eighth Street in Manhattan Beach. Manhattan Beach police say a 17-year-old male driving north on Sepulveda Boulevard made a U-turn at Eighth Street just as Jensen was entering the intersection on a green light. Jensen was unable to stop in time and hit the 1997 Toyota. She was thrown off her motorcycle and landed on the roadway. Although she was wearing a helmet, Jensen suffered serious head injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she died. Two passengers in the Toyota were also treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Sergio Mendez, a 30-year-old former U.S. Marine was killed in a Ventura County car accident after a driver who fell asleep at the wheel crashed into a Starbucks store and struck him. According to a KABC news report, the fatal accident occurred on Ventura Street in Fillmore, the night of December 13, 2011. Officials say Michael Cedarland, an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, fell asleep behind the wheel of an SUV. The vehicle travelled approximately 300 feet from the road and into the building. Mendez was pinned between the vehicle and a wall inside the coffee shop. He sustained multiple injuries and died during emergency surgery at a nearby hospital. Jose Iraheta of Lancaster and Thomas Michaels of Piru, were treated and released for minor injuries. Cedarland was not injured and has not been arrested pending an official investigation.

Teresa Pimentel, 72, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials report, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to an article in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the 11700 block of Foothill Boulevard in Lakeview Terrace, the night of December 12, 2011. Los Angeles police say Pimentel was crossing the street when a vehicle hit her. The motorist did not stop at the scene of the crash and kept driving. Ella Mae Day, 83, of Thousand Oaks, was fatally injured in a Ventura car accident when a car struck and pinned her on the sidewalk. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Calle Almendro in Thousand Oaks, the afternoon of December 7, 2011. Officials say she was walking on the sidewalk when Marshall Bowen, 80, backed out of a driveway and hit her. Day was pinned under the car and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Bowen was not arrested and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. It is not clear if he will be cited for the fatal crash. An investigation is pending.

Juan Espejel, 25, was killed in a Huntington Beach car accident after a 1982 Chevrolet Silverado hit his Yamaha motorcycle. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Brookhurst Street near Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach, the afternoon of December 6, 2011. Officials say Espejel was riding south when the Silverado struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Christina Lynn Ruvalcaba, 39, was killed and her sister Blanca Ruvalcaba, 34, was severely injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials report involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a City News Service article, the fatal hit-and-run collision occurred the night of December 4, 2011 on Erwin Street near Vesper Avenue in Van Nuys. Police say 33-year-old Alfonso Garnica-Mozgueda lost control of his 1995 Lexus ES300 and crashed into Christina Ruvalcaba, who was standing near the rear passenger door of her parked Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The victim's sister was also near the rear passenger door tending to her 7-week-old daughter who was in an infant seat.

Papaivai Masaga, 58, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Daily Breeze, the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred the evening of November 26, 2011 as the pedestrian crossed the street to get to his apartment at Carson Senior Village in the 22100 block of South Main Street in Carson. Masaga, who was struck by a Ford Mustang, suffered massive trauma to his head and body. He died shortly afterward. The motorist left the scene of the collision.

Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver

Investigators recovered debris at the location from a 1994-1998 black Ford Mustang. The vehicle was last seen fleeing westbound on 223rd Street. The Mustang sustained significant damage to the front passenger side area. Officials are looking for witnesses to the crash. David Mack, 25, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a suspected DUI driver. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Seventh and Olive streets in Los Angeles, during the early morning hours of November 21, 2011. Officials say a sedan driven by 30-year-old Patrick Traylor turned in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the sedan. Mack died at the scene. A passenger in the car was transported to an area hospital for facial and head lacerations. Traylor was arrested on suspicion of murder. Officials suspect he was driving under the influence.

James Kelly Worley, 49, of Poway, was killed in a San Diego car accident when his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle, the morning of November 18, 2011. According to a 10News report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the Interstate 5 in the Camp Pendleton area of San Diego. James Frederik Kuhr, 56, of Florida, was killed in an Ontario car accident after he was hit by an SUV while crossing the street. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on November 11, 2011 at the intersection of Francis Street and Hellman Avenue near Ontario International Airport. Police say Kuhr parked his big-rig along Francis Street and tried to cross the street at the intersection when he was struck by a black 2001 Mitsubishi Montero, which was turning left from Hellman onto Francis. Kuhr was transported to an area hospital where he died four days later. An investigation is ongoing.
