Los Angeles County Auto Accident Injures One

One person was seriously injured in a Bellflower auto accident, which officials suspect may have involved street-racing. According to an article in the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Long Angeles County car crash occurred the evening of March 24, 2009 when a Chevy Suburban headed north on Bellflower Boulevard ran a red light at Artesia Boulevard and crashed into a Geo Prizm making a left on a green arrow from southbound Bellflower Boulevard.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials are still investigating whether or not this accident was a result of street racing, based on eyewitness accounts. The driver of the Geo Prizm was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Suburban, who has not yet been identified, was arrested.

My heart goes out to the innocent motorist who suffered serious injuries in this crash. I’m relieved though, that this man was not catastrophically injured in this horrific crash that seems to have been caused by a negligent driver. I wish the injured victim the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

I certainly hope that the driver of the Suburban pays for his reckless driving and callous disregard for the rules of the road and the safety of others on the road. Not only was he allegedly racing on a public street, but he also ran a red light and struck another motorist who was making a legal left turn. Appalling! I hope this man is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and is held civilly and criminally responsible for his negligence.

Running a red light is a clear violation of California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (a) which states: “A driver facing a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a marked limit line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown.”

The injured victim in this case should consult with an experienced Southern California auto accident attorney without delay, to find out more about his legal rights and options. A skilled California personal injury attorney will fight for the auto accident victim’s rights and make sure he gets the justice and compensation he rightfully deserves. In this case, the victim will be entitled to receive compensation to pay for medical expenses and associated costs, loss of wages and other damages.
