San Diego County Auto Accident

By

Aram Gorgees, a 7-year-old boy, was killed in an El Cajon auto accident the night of March 9, 2009, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The fatal accident occurred near Jamacha Road north of Washington Avenue when the driver of the vehicle carrying Aram had pulled out of a strip mall driveway. The boy was in the rear passenger seat when the car was broadsided by an oncoming sport utility vehicle. Aram was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two others who were involved in this broadside collision were also injured and transported to the hospital.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family of little Aram Gorgees for their heartbreaking loss. I hope the two others who were injured in this auto crash did not suffer serious injuries. I wish the injured victims the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System, there were six traffic accident fatalities and 641 injury crashes in El Cajon. In San Diego County as a whole, 273 deaths and 14,920 injuries were reported in 2006 as a result of auto accidents.

In this particular case, based on the newspaper report, it appears that the oncoming SUV could not avoid the vehicle pulling out of the driveway. There is no information in this account if the SUV’s driver was speeding or distracted in some way. It is also possible the one of motorists did not have a clear view of the roadway.

Aram Gorgees’ family would be well-advised to retain the services of a skilled California auto accident attorney, who will look into all aspects of this accident, identify the negligent parties and hold them accountable. If there was a problem with the design or construction of the driveway that played a part in this auto accident then, the owner of the commercial property could be held liable.

In any auto accident, it is also important to find out whether the vehicle that the injured victim was in did what it was supposed to do to protect its occupants. A skilled personal injury attorney who has experience with auto product defect cases will also be able to look at an auto accident and determine whether an auto product defect such as seatbelt failure, seatback or airbag defects, tire defects or roof crush contributed to the occupants’ catastrophic or fatal injuries. The best California personal injury lawyers will always provide a free, comprehensive and confidential consultation.
