San Diego County Car Accident Injures Teen

A 15-year-old boy in Oceanside is in critical condition after a May 29, 2009 San Diego car accident, the North County Times reports. The three-car accident occurred on Mission Avenue at Douglas Drive as San Diego Gas & Electric Co. workers were fixing the traffic lights at the intersection that was down after an earlier car crash. The car crash that injured the teenager involved a Hyundai Tiburon, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a GMC Yukon, Oceanside police officials said. The Silverado was carrying the 15-year-old and an 18-year-old man. Traffic investigators are still looking into circumstances and the cause of this Southern California car collision. Four were personally injured and taken to area hospitals, but out of the four, only the 15-year-old suffered serious injuries.

My heart goes out to the young man who has been critically injured in this horrific car accident. I hope and pray that he makes a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep him in your prayers.

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System, there were six fatalities and 820 injuries involving car accidents in Oceanside. In San Diego County as a whole, 268 deaths and 14,641 injuries were reported in 2007 as a result of car accidents.

In this particular case, if I were a family member of the victim, I would be interested to find out exactly how or why the three-car crash occurred. Obviously workers from the San Diego Gas & Electric Co. were trying to fix the traffic signal at the intersection where the lights were out because of an earlier California car accident. The question then is whether the workers placed stop signs or followed the required procedures at that intersection to make sure that motorists passing through are alerted about that situation. This San Diego car accident could have also been caused by a negligent motorist who failed to notice the signs or deliberately drove through the intersection without waiting his or her turn.

Experienced car accident attorneys will be able to thoroughly examine the facts of this case, identify the negligent parties and help hold them accountable. The injured victim’s family would be well-advised to consult reputed California personal injury attorneys who will protect the victim’s rights and hold whoever was responsible for the accident liable. Injured victims are often eligible to receive compensation for their personal injuries including medical expenses, cost of hospitalization, medication and future or ongoing injury-related treatment.
