According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a Nissan sedan was rear-ended by a Mitsubishi SUV on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Raymond Avenue, in Anaheim. The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
I hope and pray for the victim of this car accident. I sincerely hope her injuries were not major. She will be in my prayers.
A rear-end accident occurs when one vehicle hits another vehicle in front of it. Sometimes, rear-end accidents occur when the car in the front comes to an abrupt stop. However, very often, we find that rear-end accidents occur because the driver who is behind may have been distracted, speeding or otherwise negligent. Usually, the occupants of the car that has been rear-ended suffer greater injury, and this seems to be the case here. This is usually because the person is taken by surprise and not prepared for the impact that occurs when he or she is rear-ended. The most common injuries we see in these types of accidents include whiplash, broken bones, back injuries or head injuries. Some of these rear-end crashes can even be fatal.
Liability Issues in Car Accidents
In this case, if it is determined that the driver of the SUV was at fault for causing the accident, he or she could be held liable. Victims in such cases may seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, cost of treatment and therapy connected to the injuries. The driver may also face criminal charges if the investigation reveals impairment or some type of distraction such as cell phone use or texting.
