Three Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident

By

One person was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident after two vehicles collided at a Rowland Heights street intersection the night of December 31, 2009. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that the car accident, which also injured two others, happened at the intersection of Pathfinder Road and Gallio Avenue. The most critically injured victim was transported to an area hospital. The two other injured victims were also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. According to California Highway Patrol officials, two of the victims had to be cut from the mangled wreckage.

I sympathize with those who sustained injuries as a result of this car collision. I wish the critically injured victim the very best for a quick and full recovery. I also hope and pray that the other two injured victims make a speedy recovery. These injured victims will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Car Accidents

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System, 119 people died and 5,273 were injured as a result of car accidents in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Countywide, 712 people died and 56,475 were injured as a result of car accidents during the same year.

Causes and Liability Issues

Based on this news report, the cause of this major injury collision is yet to be determined. There are still many details that are unknown or unclear. This accident apparently occurred at a street intersection in the city of Rowland Heights. If that’s accurate, then did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way or run a red light, causing this accident? Was there a dangerous condition at this intersection, which may have caused or contributed to this accident? Did alcohol, speed or distracted driving play a part in this crash?

If there was negligence or wrongdoing involved here, the negligent party could be held liable for the accident and injuries. If there were other violations such as running a red light or driving under the influence, the negligent driver could be looking at criminal charges as well. An experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer will stay on top of this investigation and make sure that the victims’ legal rights are protected and that they receive fair compensation for their injuries, medical expenses and other damages.
