Fatal San Bernardino Car Accident

A 60-year-old man who sustained fatal injuries in a San Bernardino car accident has been identified as Timothy Adams. The San Bernardino Sun reports that the fatal rollover accident occurred after Adams, who was driving a 1979 Jeep CJ6 in Landers, lost control of his vehicle and crashed the night of January 23, 2010.

The Jeep rolled over and Adams was pinned under it. A friend, who was a passenger in the car, helped free him. Adams declined medical treatment on scene and went to his friend’s home in Landers. Adams was found unresponsive the next morning and was pronounced dead by emergency personnel. The cause of his death is still under investigation, but it is believed that the injuries from the rollover accident proved fatal for Adams.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Timothy Adams for their tragic and sudden loss. This is yet another reminder of the fact that rollover accidents can be deadly. It is also an important reminder for all of us to pay a visit to the doctor immediately after an accident, even if we “feel fine.” Several injuries – life-threatening or otherwise – tend to surface hours or even days after a car accident.

Rollover Accidents

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are about 10,000 fatalities each year that involve rollover accidents. That number accounts for one-fourth of all traffic accident deaths in the United States. Rollover accidents can also be devastating causing catastrophic injuries or death.

Protect Your Rights

Based on this news report, it is not clear who or what caused this deadly rollover crash. It may have been caused by a vehicle defect or a mechanical malfunction in the Jeep. There may have been a dangerous condition on the roadway. Adams may have tried to maneuver his way around debris on the roadway. Adams may have lost control because another vehicle cut him off or ran him off the roadway. We do not know at this point. In these types of accidents, an experienced San Bernardino car accident lawyer will be able to look into all facets of the case and help protect the legal rights and best interests of the victims and their families.
