San Bernardino Car Accident Injures Four

Four people were injured in a San Bernardino car accident when an SUV went off a freeway overpass the afternoon of March 16, 2010, The Press Enterprise reports. The injury crash occurred when the late-model Dodge SUV, which was traveling south on Highway 330, went off the overpass and fell onto a Honda coupe that was heading east on the 210 Freeway. The female driver of the SUV sustained serious injuries. However, her two young children escaped with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda also sustained only minor injuries. All involved were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

It is indeed fortunate that this accident did not cause more serious injuries. It could have been a lot worse. I hope and pray that the driver of the SUV, who has been the most seriously injured, recovers quickly and completely.

San Bernardino Car Accidents

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 107 deaths and 1,925 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. Also, countywide, car accidents claimed 263 lives and injured 8,504 people during the same year.

What Caused this Accident?

Based on this news report, it is not entirely clear what caused the woman to lose control of the SUV. There is a possibility that the driver in this case was distracted or going too fast. However, there are still several questions here. Was there a vehicle defect or a mechanical malfunction in the SUV that caused the driver to lose control and crash? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway, which caused or contributed to the accident? Was another vehicle involved? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine who or what may have caused this crash.

Auto Product Liability Issues

If this accident was caused by an auto product defect, the auto maker could be held liable for the crash and injuries caused. In such cases, it would be in the best interest of the victims and their families to preserve the crashed vehicle, unaltered, so it can be carefully examined by an expert for product defects, malfunctions or other evidence.

Injured victims would be well-advised to contact a reputed San Bernardino car accident lawyer who has an excellent track record with auto products liability cases. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free and comprehensive consultation to injured victims and their families.
