Three Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident

By

Three people sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident the morning of March 30, 2010, The Pasadena Star News reports. The accident, which involved several vehicles including a Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) bus, and a Lexus sedan, occurred on the westbound 210 Freeway near the Sierra Madre Boulevard onramp. The initial collision was between the bus and a big rig truck. The driver of the truck and the bus driver sustained moderate injuries. A passenger in the Lexus was also injured.

I hope none of these injured victims sustained any catastrophic injuries in this terrible accident. I wish the victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery from their injuries. They will be in my prayers.

Car Accidents

There were eight fatalities and 978 injuries involving car accidents in Pasadena, according to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Los Angeles County as a whole, 667 deaths and 52,229 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents during the same year.

Fault and Liability Issues

It is not clear which one of the drivers initially caused this bus versus truck accident. If the driver of the MTA bus caused this collision, then he or she, as well as the transit authority, can be held liable. If the driver of the large truck caused the accident, then he and his employer – the trucking company – could be held liable.

In such cases, injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, cost of surgery and rehabilitation. Victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer who will keep them informed about their legal rights and options.

Any case involving multiple vehicles, multiple victims and entities can become quite complex. Please remember that any claim against a governmental agency in California must be filed within six months of the accident or injury. Also, remember that you should not make statements or sign away agreements without first talking to a knowledgeable injury lawyer who will fight to protect your rights and best interests.
