Luis Magana, 52, was killed and three others were injured in a Los Angeles car accident that involved several vehicles and multiple victims. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal crash occurred early morning on May 24, 2010 in the westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway near Diamond Bar Boulevard.
Series of Collisions
This incident also involved a series of collisions, California Highway Patrol officials said. The driver of a Chevy Impala and her passenger stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway for an unknown reason. The driver failed to put the Impala in park and it drifted into the freeway lanes and was hit by a 2005 Pontiac GTO. That vehicle then crashed into a 2002 Honda Civic and a 2000 Toyota Camry. Just as the victims got out of their vehicles and were trying to get help, a 1982 Chevy Caprice traveling in the carpool struck the unoccupied Civic.
Magana, the driver of the Caprice died at the scene and his three passengers were injured. Manuel Magana, 89, sustained severe internal injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital. Jamie Magana, 38, also sustained internal injuries, while 83-year-old Maria Magana suffered broken bones and head injuries.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of the Magana family for their tremendous loss. I offer my deepest sympathies. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the three injured victims here. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Protecting Victims’ Rights
Investigating any car accident that involves multiple vehicles and several parties can get rather complex. Injured victims and their families in such cases would be well-advised to get in touch with an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all facets of the incident and make sure that their rights are protected.
Where negligence or wrongdoing is involved, families of deceased victims can file a wrongful death claim seeking compensation for medical and funeral expenses, lost future earnings, loss of love and companionship, and other related damages. Injured victims can seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, surgeries and even long-term care, where catastrophic injuries are involved.
