Based on this news report, the circumstances of the crash are not clear. There are several unanswered questions. Was the pedestrian in a crosswalk or walking at an intersection? Did the big rig have the right-of-way? Was the driver of the truck impaired, distracted or driving negligently at the time? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway, which caused or contributed to the pedestrian accident?
If the truck driver is determined to have been at fault then he and his employer could be held liable for the pedestrian’s serious injuries. In such cases, victims could seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of earnings, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation, and even long-term care.
Injured victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will examine all aspects of the case and make sure that the negligent parties are held accountable. If this accident was caused by a dangerous or defective roadway, the governmental entity responsible for maintaining the roadway could also be held liable.
