A hit-and-run collision in Torrance caused injuries to a police officer who was trying to make a traffic stop the afternoon of June 28, 2010, the Daily Breeze reports. The injury accident happened near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and 242nd Street when the officer was trying to stop the vehicle. Leaving the Scene of a Crash
California Vehicle Code 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.” In this particular case, the other vehicle also failed to stop when a police officer was trying to make a traffic stop.
In such cases, injured victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer who will be able to analyze all aspects of the crash and make sure that the victims’ rights are protected. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will also be able advise victims about how their own auto insurance policy might apply to a hit-and-run collision or an accident involving an at-fault motorist who is uninsured or underinsured.
