By

A hit-and-run collision in Torrance caused injuries to a police officer who was trying to make a traffic stop the afternoon of June 28, 2010, the Daily Breeze reports. The injury accident happened near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and 242nd Street when the officer was trying to stop the vehicle. However, he ended up striking the vehicle he was about to stop and then slammed into a parked car. The other vehicle fled the scene but was located shortly afterward. Its driver, who has not yet been identified, was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run. The officer had to be removed from his cruiser and taken to an area hospital. He is expected to survive.

Police officers put their lives on the line for the safety and well-being of the communities that they serve. This incident is yet another reminder of how dangerous their jobs can be. We are extremely grateful to these brave men and women for their service to our communities. I pray for the speedy recovery of this injured Torrance police officer

Liability Issues

In such cases, injured victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer who will be able to analyze all aspects of the crash and make sure that the victims’ rights are protected. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will also be able advise victims about how their own auto insurance policy might apply to a hit-and-run collision or an accident involving an at-fault motorist who is uninsured or underinsured.
