Dangerous Intersections Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue Huntington Beach, California

By

Since the invention of the automobile, driving has been a privilege and a responsibility. On one hand, our vehicle is a tremendous asset, transporting us to where we need to be in a relatively short period of time. On the other hand, it is a deadly weapon. In addition, the streets that we use to operate our vehicles are just as important as the way we drive. When there have been an extraordinary number of Huntington Beach car accidents consistently, in the same places, year after year, I find it criminal to not make significant changes to try to protect our citizens.

Driver Beware

Huntington Beach is a beautiful part of Orange County, California. Blue skies, nice people, great food, and plenty of entertainment, what’s not to like? The intersection of Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue is a different story. This intersection has ranked in the top 10 of most dangerous intersections in California for the last decade. There have been more personal injury accidents here than any other intersection in Orange County.

One third of all accidents occur at intersections. This is because traffic is coming from every direction and due to the number of signals directing where to go, there is a heightened chance of confusion. There are also people who tailgate, speed, refuse to yield, etc.. It is unknown to me as to why there are so many more accidents at Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue, but I do know that there are ways to reduce them.

Solutions

There are solutions to this problem. Cameras at intersections have proven to be effective in reducing traffic accidents, but we have yet to see them put to use at this location. At Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys we strive to increase awareness and change in our community. If this intersection is putting people in danger, you should know, and we should be doing something to change it. When approaching any intersection, be aware that there is a higher chance that you will be involved in an accident. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, and be aware of the traffic around you.

If you have been injured at this intersection, call one of our experienced Huntington Beach personal injury attorneys. Not only would we like to help you get compensation for your injuries, we would like to get more information as to the contributing factors that led to your accident.

I know this was written a year ago. But I just came across this article. I actually live walking distance from this intersection. I’ve seen MANY accidents here. I think I know why. The red lights are extremely long. And the green lights are very short. It’s at the edge of the Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa border. So, it’s a main area for traffic. Once you get caught at a red light, the wait is very long. People who know this try to speed through.

I witnessed an accident where a car ran over a bicyclist by the Shell station. I rendered aid to the victim. Today, someone busted a light pole & shot a bit off it across the intersection. Adams is taped off to prevent traffic. Terrible accident. No doubt loss of life again. I grew up a mile from the intersection and now live within spitting distance of it. Don’t like the idea of a camera though.
