Top Dangerous Trucking Companies

By

There are several dangers posed by top trucking companies and they are responsible for countless trucking accidents. Many transportation companies rely solely on their big-rigs to transport their products lining streets and highways with countless trucks going long distances trying to operate their vehicles safely under very difficult circumstances. In 2006, the transportation industry logged 432.9 billion miles. Every 16 minutes, someone is killed or injured in a semi-truck accident. Drivers are noticing more and more fatal truck accidents and can only hope that they won’t be the next victim.

Driving on the road today nothing is more frightening than being involved in a catastrophic trucking accident. Several companies are guilty, leaving me with the difficult task of choosing the top two trucking companies by revenue. In the past few years, we have seen the following companies take an increasing toll on the safety of today’s motorists.

United Parcel Service

Since the United Parcel Service is one of the leading providers of package deliver by ground, it comes as no surprise that they have developed a track record of serious injury trucking accidents. On June 8, 2010 in Texas, two people were killed in a trucking accident following a fiery crash on Highway 249. According to a witness, the victims were in a Saturn car that had stalled on the highway and had its hazard lights flashing when a UPS delivery truck slammed in to the back of the vehicle causing both the vehicles erupt in flames. The driver of the UPS truck was able to exit the vehicle unharmed, but both occupants (male and female) of the Saturn suffered fatal injuries.

FedEx Ground

FedEx Ground trucking accidents have been a significant contributor to the nation’s truck fatality statistics for years. FedEx disperses trucks upon the U.S. like ants across a picnic blanket and with such a large amount of drivers expected to transport across vast distances, it becomes only a matter of time before a FedEx driver becomes impaired and causes a catastrophic injury truck accident. For those that survive these horrific accidents their injuries are often so devastating that they must drastically adjust their lives to fulfill their new needs.
