A woman was injured in a Riverside car accident, which officials say, involved a head-on collision between two vehicles. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the injury car accident occurred on Gilman Springs Road near Alessandro Boulevard in Moreno Valley the evening of January 24, 2011. It is unclear at this time why the two vehicles crashed head-on into one another. The condition of the injured victim is also not known at this point. The car accident remains under investigation.
My thoughts and prayers are with the woman injured in this Riverside car accident. I wish her a complete and speedy recovery from her injuries.
Riverside Car Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), five people were killed and 629 were injured in Moreno Valley car accidents. During that same year, there were 220 fatalities and 8,561 injuries reported involving car accidents in Riverside County.
What Caused This Injury Car Accident?
Based on this news report, it is unclear why the two vehicles crashed and which one of the vehicles drifted into oncoming traffic. According to California Vehicle Code Section 21651 (a): “Whenever a highway has been divided into two or more roadways by means of intermittent barriers or by means of a dividing section of not less than two feet in width, either unpaved or delineated by curbs, double-parallel lines, or other markings on the roadway, it is unlawful…to drive any vehicle over, upon, or across the dividing section.” I trust officials are also looking into whether one of the drivers was impaired, distracted, speeding or otherwise negligent at the time of the car accident.
In such cases, at-fault drivers can be held civilly liable for the injuries and damages caused in addition to the criminal charges that they may face. Car accident victims can claim compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, hospitalization, pain and suffering, and other related damages. It would also be in the best interests of injured victims to seek the counsel of an experienced Riverside personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
