A man in his 60s has suffered life-threatening injuries in a Ventura car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the major injury collision occurred the morning of July 16, 2011, at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Rose Avenue in Oxnard. The man was found lying on the roadway near the intersection. Based on his injuries, police say a vehicle heading west on Pleasant Valley Road struck him. The motorist left the scene without contacting authorities or helping the injured pedestrian. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Oxnard police at 805-385-7750.

Leaving the Scene of a Crash
Based on this news report, it appears that the driver struck and critically injured the pedestrian and then fled the scene leaving the victim lying on the roadway. Despicable! Not only is leaving the scene of an injury car accident inhumane, irresponsible and unethical, but it is also against the law. California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”
