Man Killed in Riverside Hit-and-Run Car Accident

By

John Cameron, 49, was fatally injured in a Riverside car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver, the night of September 16, 2011. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Blackwell Boulevard in the unincorporated area of Lakeland Village, near Lake Elsinore. Cameron was transported to an area medical center where he died from his injuries. Witnesses have described the vehicle involved in this fatal hit-and-run crash as a Ford F-250. California Highway Patrol officials say that the truck may have damage to its right front fender. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact CHP officials at 951-506-2000.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of John Cameron following this tragic hit-and-run car accident. My thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to CHP’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), three people were killed and five were injured in Lake Elsinore pedestrian accidents. During that same year, 39 fatalities and 370 injuries occurred as a result of Riverside County pedestrian accidents.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

Based on this news report, officials say that the driver of the pickup truck not only hit and killed Cameron, but also left him lying on the roadway without care or medical attention. California law requires drivers involved in an injury accident to not only stop immediately and remain at the scene, but also obtain assistance for the injured. Getting prompt medical attention for an injured victim can make the difference between life and death. Getting assistance can be as simple as calling 911. However, this driver made the choice to drive away leaving the critically injured victim lying on the street. Appalling!

I trust that this driver will soon be apprehended and brought to justice. If you have any information about this accident, please visit our web site www.hitandrunreward.com. Our site allows witnesses to provide an anonymous tip and also become eligible to receive a $1,000 reward.

Claim for Compensation

In such cases, families of deceased hit-and-run victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Riverside personal injury lawyer, who will inform them if they have a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver, or another negligent party. If this accident was the result of a dangerous roadway, the city or governmental agency responsible for maintaining the roadway can be held liable. A knowledgeable car accident attorney will also advise victims’ families about how their own auto insurance policy applies to an incident where the hit-and-run driver is not identified, or, in a case where the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured.
