Three people were injured in a Victorville car accident after a Jeep ran a red light and crashed into two vehicles that were turning left at an intersection. According to a news report in the Victorville Daily Press, the injury accident occurred at the intersection of Hook Boulevard and Amargosa Road in Victorville, the afternoon of October 18, 2011. Vanessa Chavez of Victorville states that a Jeep ran a red light and crashed into a white sport utility vehicle. The SUV was then forced into the sedan that Chavez was driving. Two of the three injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Officials are trying to determine why the driver of the Jeep ran the red light.
My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims of this car accident. I wish them the very best for a quick and complete recovery.
Car Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 16 people were killed and 261 were injured in Victorville car accidents. During that same year, 223 fatalities and 7,870 injuries occurred due to San Bernardino County car accidents.
Possible Red Light Violation
The report states that the driver of the Jeep may have run a red light at the intersection. California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (a) states: “A driver facing a circular red signal shall stop at the limit line before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown.”
I trust officials are looking into whether the driver who ran the red light was impaired, distracted, speeding, or otherwise negligent at the time of the crash. If the driver of the Jeep is determined to have been at fault, he or she could be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. In such cases, injured victims would be well advised to contact an experienced San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. Car accident victims could seek compensation for all medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
