Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in San Diego Car Accident

By

A 37-year-old Vista man was severely injured in a San Diego car accident after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup, the afternoon of November 8, 2011. According to a news report in The North County Times, the injury motorcycle accident occurred on Monte Vista Drive, between Foothill and La Rueda drives, in Vista. Officials say a Dodge Ram pickup truck came to a stop behind a vehicle that was waiting to turn left. The motorcyclist who was immediately behind the Dodge could not stop in time and hit the back of the pickup. The victim was thrown from his vehicle, suffering critical injuries. It is unclear at the moment how fast the Dodge was traveling and how quickly it had come to a stop, or if anyone will be cited for the crash.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victim of this San Diego motorcycle accident. I wish him the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.

San Diego Motorcycle Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), three people were killed and 15 were injured in Vista motorcycle accidents. During that same year, 39 fatalities and 989 injuries occurred due to San Diego County motorcycle accidents.

What Caused This Serious Injury Accident?

Based on this news report, the accident occurred when the Dodge pickup came to a stop behind another vehicle that was making a turn. I trust investigators are looking into whether the driver of the Dodge had been speeding and if he or she had slammed on the brakes before stopping. Did the motorcycle rider have a sufficient amount of time to slow down? Were any of the motorists here exceeding the speed limit or driving distracted? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Liability Issues

If the pickup truck driver is determined to have been at fault, he or she can be held liable for the resulting injuries and damages. Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation for medical bills, hospitalization, lost wages, the cost of rehabilitation services, and other related damages. Victims would be well advised to contact an experienced San Diego motorcycle accident lawyer, who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to car accident victims and their families.
