Woman Killed in Laguna Beach Rollover Accident

By

Sann King, 58, was fatally injured in a Laguna Beach car accident when her Mercedes-Benz went off a canyon road, the afternoon of July 13, 2012. According to a City News Service report, the rollover accident occurred off Laguna Canyon Road north of Route 73 in Laguna Beach. Officials say King’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times. It is unclear what caused her black, mid 1990’s sedan to exit the roadway.

My heart goes out to the family and many friends of Sann King following this tragic accident. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Orange County Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), one person was killed and 125 were injured in Laguna Beach car accidents. During that same year, there were 141 fatalities and 13,373 injuries reported as a result of Orange County car crashes.

What Caused This Fatal Rollover Accident?

Based on this news account, it is not yet clear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Did an auto defect or mechanical malfunction cause or contribute to this incident? Did a dangerous roadway condition cause King to lose control of the vehicle? Were other vehicles involved in this crash? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Liability Issues

The family of a deceased car accident victim would be well advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury attorney, who will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. It would be a good idea here to preserve the vehicle in its current crashed state unaltered so that an expert to examine it for defects, malfunctions and other evidence.

If a defective auto led to the crash, the automaker or the manufacturer of the defective product can be held liable for the victim’s wrongful death. In such cases, victims’ families can seek compensation from the auto manufacturer for medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income and loss of love and companionship. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to car accident victims or their families.
