Mother Of Eight Killed In Anaheim Hit-and-Run Crash

By

Daniella Palacios, 45, was killed in a bicycle accident in Anaheim, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver.

According to a KTLA news report the fatal accident occurred November 2, 2014 near the intersection of North Magnolia Street and La Palma Avenue.

Palacios was struck by a white pickup truck and transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver did not stop after the crash and is said to have fled north on Magnolia.

Police have released
the photo of a truck suspected of hitting and killing Palacios. Anaheim PD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call investigators at 714-765-1900.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family members and friends of Daniella Palacios, especially the eight children she leaves behind. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Bicycle Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2012 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were no fatalities, but 169 injuries reported as a result of bicycle accidents.

In Orange County as a whole, 13 people died and 1,441 were injured due to bicycle accidents during the same year.

Leaving the Scene of a Crash

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the pickup truck not only struck and fatally injured Palacios, but also fled the scene of the crash, leaving the critically injured woman lying on the street. Outrageous! Not only is leaving the scene of an injury crash inhumane and irresponsible, but it is also illegal.

California Vehicle Code 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”
