Brenda Coronel, 23, was fatally injured in a highway crash in Los Alamitos early morning on April 26, 2015.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car accident occurred on the southbound 605 Freeway just south of Katella Avenue.

California Highway Patrol officials say one vehicle rear-ended another causing the
vehicle in front to lost control.

Coronel, a passenger in one of the two vehicles, a 2001 Honda, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of that car, also a woman in her 20s, had moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. She is expected to survive.

Another vehicle involved in the crash was a 2007 BMW driven by a man who also suffered moderate injuries and taken to Long Beach Memorial. The investigation is ongoing.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Brenda Coronel, who was tragically killed in this crash. We also wish those who were injured the very best for a quick and full recovery.
