Leaving the Scene of a Crash
Based on this news report, it appears that Garcia was struck down by a vehicle whose driver didn’t even stop to help him. Outrageous.
Under California law, leaving the scene of a crash is illegal. California Vehicle Code 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”
If you have any information about the incident or the driver, please visit our dedicated Hit-and-Run Reward website at hitandrunreward.com to offer an anonymous tip and to become eligible for a $1,000 reward.
This is our way of partnering with law enforcement and the community to help apprehend hit-and-run drivers.
Holding Wrongdoers Accountable
In such cases, injured victims and families of deceased victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury attorney who will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
An experienced lawyer who has successfully handled hit-and-run cases will also advise victims and families about how their own auto insurance policy might apply to an incident where the at-fault party is uninsured or underinsured.
