the scene. Police are looking for an older, box-style, dark-colored Jeep Cherokee with front-end damage from the wreck.

The woman suffered injuries, but is expected to survive. The investigation is ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family members and friends of the deceased victim for their tragic loss. We also wish the injured woman the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Hit-and-Run Collisions

Hit-and-run crashes are becoming the norm rather than the exception in Southern California. Los Angeles has gained notoriety as “the hit-and-run capital of the nation.” 2015 has been a particularly deadly year for pedestrians in Orange County. So far, at least 48 people have died in pedestrian collisions.

Orange County coroner’s data going back to 1992 shows that the worst year on record was 1994, when 70 pedestrians died. A number of pedestrian crashes this year have been hit-and-run collisions.

Holding Drivers Responsible

Bases on this news report, it appears that the driver in this case not only lost control of the vehicle, jumped the curb and struck two senior citizens sitting on a bus bench, but fled the scene leaving injured elderly individuals at the scene, fighting for their lives.
