A bicyclist identified as 82-year-old Peter Tomaino, was killed in a Laguna Hills car accident after colliding with a vehicle while crossing a street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal bicycle accident occurred the afternoon of May 26, 2015. Officials say Tomaino was crossing from a Ralphs parking lot on the west side of Paseo De Valencia south of Alicia Parkway when he was struck by a vehicle that was going south on the roadway.
Tomaino was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene. Police say they don’t suspect the involvement of alcohol or drugs. Investigators are still looking into who had the right of way and are asking witnesses to call the sheriff’s traffic bureau at 949-425-1860.
