Two young boys, ages 7 and 9, were killed in a Boyle Heights crash, and several others were critically injured after they were struck by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department SUV that was responding to a call. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a man driving along Laguna Canyon Road the night of October 15, 2017 fell asleep at the wheel, lost control of his vehicle and struck a power pole knocking live wires across the roadway. The crash, which occurred near the 2600 block of Laguna Canyon Road, shut down the roadway for most of the night. The car’s driver did suffer injuries, but the extent of those injuries is not known. A 58-year-old man was killed in a Long Beach car accident, which involved a teenager who was speeding and driving recklessly, officials said. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a 17-year-old male driver from Huntington Beach was driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse south on Pacific Coast Highway near Studebaker Road the afternoon of September 20, 2017. Witnesses told police the Eclipse was going at least 60 mph weaving through cars.

A man was hospitalized with injuries after a car accident in Costa Mesa, which involved three vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the collision occurred the morning of August 28, 2017 at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 16th Street. Police say when firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw one woman and three men involved from three vehicles.
The woman declined medical treatment as did two men who were in a gardening truck. A fourth person, a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire officials. The man is said to have sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. The cause of the car accident is still under investigation. Continue reading →
Sarah Krueger, 46, was fatally injured in a Seal Beach pedestrian accident the morning of August 11, 2017. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 12th Street. Paramedics who responded to the incident found Krueger in full cardiac arrest. She had suffered life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Krueger, a Seal Beach resident, was rushed by ambulance to an area hospital where she died from her injuries. Officials have not released details regarding the circumstances of this deadly pedestrian accident. No arrests or citations have been reported. Police are looking into whether a car accident in Anaheim that killed a man who was pulling into his driveway was prompted by street racing. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, an 18-year-old man is accused of slamming his car early morning on July 30, 2017 into the vehicle of Tarek Hamed, 34, killing him. The teen, Jorge Esteban Lunas Martinez, has been arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony DUI and driving without a license.

Tiffany Chiali Yi Ching, 49, was killed when her car crashed into a disabled big rig on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the incident occurred the afternoon of July 20, along the westbound 60 Freeway just east of Santa Anita Avenue. California Highway Patrol officials say Ching was at the wheel of a 2018 BMW heading west on the 60 Freeway at an unknown speed just before the crash. Ahead of her was a tractor-trailer stopped along the right shoulder of the freeway near the Santa Anita Avenue off-ramp due to a mechanical breakdown. Continue reading →
Two children, ages 1 and 8, were killed in a rollover accident and three others sustained major injuries. According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred on the northbound side of the 14 Freeway near Acton near the Red Rover Mine Road off-ramp the morning of July 20, 2017. California Highway Patrol officials said the vehicle veered to the right before hitting an embankment and overturning.
Five people were injured including three young children who were all in critical condition immediately after the crash. A 1-year-old and 8-year old died from their injuries. Three others suffered major injuries. The crash victims included a 37-year-old woman, a 16-year-old, a 1-year-old and 8-year-old boy and girl twins. A horrific car accident in Yorba Linda fatally injured 38-year-old Donald Wall and his fiancé 40-year-old Danielle Velazquez. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal incident occurred when the pickup truck the couple was traveling in went out of control, flew over a fenced dirt lot and crashed into a home. Three of six people in the home sustained injuries, but none were serious.
Wall’s family is saying that he was never a reckless driver and that it was very uncharacteristic of him to blow though a stop sign. The crash occurred barely a couple of block away from his home and he was quite familiar with the streets. There is also the question of whether there was a mechanical malfunction in the pickup truck that caused Wall to lose control. An investigation is ongoing. Continue reading →
A woman was killed in a three-car car accident in Tustin after her vehicle hit a truck and spun out onto oncoming traffic before hitting another car. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the night of May 23, 2017. Police say the driver of a Kia Spectra was traveling west along the 17200 block of Nisson Road and collided with a Dodge Ram truck that was stopped in the street waiting for a parking spot. The crash caused the Spectra to spin across the road and collide into a Kia Forte that was going east on Nisson Road at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue. Continue reading →
