Tiffany Chiali Yi Ching, 49, was killed when her car crashed into a disabled big rig on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the incident occurred the afternoon of July 20, along the westbound 60 Freeway just east of Santa Anita Avenue. California Highway Patrol officials say Ching was at the wheel of a 2018 BMW heading west on the 60 Freeway at an unknown speed just before the crash. Ahead of her was a tractor-trailer stopped along the right shoulder of the freeway near the Santa Anita Avenue off-ramp due to a mechanical breakdown. Continue reading →
Two children, ages 1 and 8, were killed in a rollover accident and three others sustained major injuries. According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred on the northbound side of the 14 Freeway near Acton near the Red Rover Mine Road off-ramp the morning of July 20, 2017. California Highway Patrol officials said the vehicle veered to the right before hitting an embankment and overturning.
Five people were injured including three young children who were all in critical condition immediately after the crash. A 1-year-old and 8-year old died from their injuries. Three others suffered major injuries. The crash victims included a 37-year-old woman, a 16-year-old, a 1-year-old and 8-year-old boy and girl twins. All of the children had to be airlifted for treatment to nearby hospitals. There is no word yet on a possible cause for the crash. Continue reading →
A horrific car accident in Yorba Linda fatally injured 38-year-old Donald Wall and his fiancé 40-year-old Danielle Velazquez. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal incident occurred when the pickup truck the couple was traveling in went out of control, flew over a fenced dirt lot and crashed into a home. Three of six people in the home sustained injuries, but none were serious.
Wall’s family is saying that he was never a reckless driver and that it was very uncharacteristic of him to blow though a stop sign. The crash occurred barely a couple of block away from his home and he was quite familiar with the streets. There is also the question of whether there was a mechanical malfunction in the pickup truck that caused Wall to lose control. An investigation is ongoing. Continue reading →
A woman was killed in a three-car car accident in Tustin after her vehicle hit a truck and spun out onto oncoming traffic before hitting another car. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the night of May 23, 2017. Police say the driver of a Kia Spectra was traveling west along the 17200 block of Nisson Road and collided with a Dodge Ram truck that was stopped in the street waiting for a parking spot. The crash caused the Spectra to spin across the road and collide into a Kia Forte that was going east on Nisson Road at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue. Continue reading →
Three people were injured in a car accident in Irvine that involved two vehicles early morning on May 14, 2017. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Culver Drive. It took firefighters 25 minutes to extricate a male driver trapped inside one of the cars. He was transported to an area trauma center for treatment of his injuries. His female passenger and the male driver of a second vehicle were also hospitalized with injuries. The nature and extent of their injuries is not known.

Six people were injured, one seriously, in South Los Angles car accident early morning on May 4, 2017. According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred in the 1800 block of East Vernon Avenue. Police said the collision possibly occurred after a driver ran a red light at an intersection. Six people were injured, including five occupants of one car who were transported to an area hospital. All were listed in critical condition. The sixth person, the driver of the other car, was transported to a local hospital, was listed in stable condition. A 16-year-old girl was reported to be in grave condition. No arrests or citations were reported. The collision is still under investigation.

Six people were injured in a Costa Mesa car accident when four cars crashed at a city street intersection. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the morning of January 29, 2017 at the intersection of Victoria Street and Pomona Avenue. The six victims were transported to three different area hospitals. No one suffered life-threatening injuries. Four of the victims were adults in their 30s and 40s and two were teenagers, officials said. Two declined to be transported to the hospital.

Lisa Shelhorn, 19, was killed and a man was critically injured in a Seal Beach car accident the afternoon of December 9, 2016. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred on Westminster Avenue between Seal Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road. A preliminary investigation shows that a man in a pickup truck driving east on Westminster crossed over the painted center median into oncoming traffic and struck a westbound minivan.
Shelhorn, who was driving the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Investigators are looking into the possibility that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing. Continue reading →
Richard Jeans Jr., 73, was killed in a Huntington Beach car accident after a car struck him in an unmarked crosswalk. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Jeans was riding his mobility scooter on Beach Boulevard the night of November 19, 2016 at the intersection of Taylor Drive in an unmarked crosswalk when a Mazda Protégé traveling north struck him.
When police arrived, they found Jean critically injured and lying in the roadway next to his scooter. No arrests or citations were reported. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the incident occurred the evening of November 13, 2014 at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Platt Avenue.
