A 69-year-old man was killed in a South Los Angeles pedestrian accident, which officials said, involved a suspected hit-and-run driver. According to a KABC news report, a vehicle was going south on Broadway early morning on February 11, 2017 when it struck a man who was crossing westbound in a marked crosswalk at 49th Street. Los Angeles fire officials responded to the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver did not stop and render aid as required by the law, police said. They are looking for the hit-and-run driver. A surveillance camera at a nearby business captured the fatal crash, but investigators have not yet released a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has more information is asked to contact LAPD’s Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713.

A man suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident in Garden Grove after a vehicle struck him in a crosswalk. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the evening of January 21, 2017 at the intersection of Haster Street and Lampson Avenue. Officials said the man was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle negotiating a northbound turn onto Haster Street from Lampson Avenue.

The man suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area trauma center. He died a few hours later. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Tran Nguyen, 90, was killed in a Santa Ana pedestrian accident after a vehicle struck him when he was walking in a crosswalk. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Westminster Avenue the morning of March 6, 2016. When police arrived at the scene they saw the pedestrian lying on the ground. Investigators say Nguyen was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection when a pickup truck going northbound struck him.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Nguyen was transported with life threatening injuries to an area trauma center where he later died. Police are looking into who had the right of way in this case. They don’t believe speed, alcohol or drugs caused this fatal crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 714-245-8216.

A pedestrian was killed in a car crash in Downey, which officials say, was caused by suspected street racers. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the incident was reported at the intersection of Bellflower Boulevard and Imperial Highway the night of February 28, 2016. Police said a black BMW 328i and a grey Hyundai Tiburon were racing eastbound on Imperial Highway, with speeds reaching 100 mph. When the vehicles reached the intersection, the BMW crashed into a Nissan that was making a left turn from a westbound lane.

As the BMW crashed and lost control, it struck a man who was standing on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai managed to avoid crashing into the Altima. Three occupants from the Nissan were transported to an area with what were described as moderate injuries. The drivers of the BMW and the Hyundai were arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

A driver was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a pedestrian collision that killed a jogger, identified as 59-year-old Chi Shao, in Walnut. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, the incident occurred early morning on February 15, 2015 in the 20200 block of Barnard Avenue in Walnut. Police say the driver, 36-year-old Haissan Massalkhy, was driving east on La Puente Road when he struck a man jogging in the bike lane.

The driver carried the jogger on the hood of his 1989 Toyota Camry for several yards before crashing into a brick wall. He was questioned at the scene and arrested on suspicion of murder. Officials believe that Massalkhy deliberately struck and killed the pedestrian, but don’t have a motive yet.
