Two people have been killed in separate pedestrian accidents on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach on March 9 and early morning March 10. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the first incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. at Beach Boulevard and Slater Avenue. Police said a woman believed to be between 50 and 60 years old was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a silver 2014 Nissan Versa. According to a KTLA news report, the incident occurred the morning of Oct. 12 at the intersection of Royal Avenue and Vaquero Drive when a man driving an SUV hit the crossing guard during the busy morning hours as children and parents were arriving at the school. A woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident after a vehicle struck her while she was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk. According to a KTLA news report, the collision was reported near the intersection of West Florence Avenue and Kansas Avenue early morning on June 14. The female pedestrian was walking in an unmarked crosswalk when she was struck. The driver stopped and remained at the scene. A man has suffered critically injured after he was struck by a transit bus at a Fontana intersection. According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred at the intersection of Sierra and Upland avenues the afternoon of May 7. Police say the Omnitrans bus was southbound on Sierra Avenue when it struck the man. Officials said the man was “in between crosswalks” at the time. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. A passenger on the bus was also transported after complaining of suffering minor injuries when the bus came to an abrupt stop. A woman who was visiting the memorial site of a friend who was killed in a traffic accident weeks earlier was struck by an SUV that drove onto the curb. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injured woman had serious, but not life-threatening injuries. A 71-year-old man who was crossing a street in Garden Grove was struck and killed by a vehicle the night of December 8, 2017. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incidents occurred in the southbound lane of Brookhurst Street just north of Bixby Avenue. The man, crossing eastbound in an area that wasn’t marked by a crosswalk, was struck by a blue 2004 Infiniti G35 driven by a 22-year-old man. The pedestrian died at the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. It did not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this fatal incident. No arrests or citations were reported. The investigation is pending and officials are asking anyone with information to contact Garden Grove police at 714-741-5823.
