Joey Robinson, 21, was killed in a bicycle accident in Orange after a suspected drunk driver struck him and left the scene. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred on the shoulder of Santiago Canyon Road and Loma Ridge the morning of February 3, 2014. Robinson had been riding on the shoulder of the roadway when officials say a speeding driver traveling south struck him while making an unsafe turn. Robinson, an Irvine resident, died at the scene.

A 30-year-old man was killed in a Riverside motorcycle accident the night of January 22, 2014 after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle exiting a school. According to a report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal collision occurred when a 33-year-old Riverside man pulled out of Adams Elementary onto Colorado Avenue right into the path of the 2008 Suzuki motorcycle traveling east on Colorado. The motorcycle lay in pieces in the street. The motorcyclist died from his injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine who was at fault.

Diana Hanson, 24, an intern at a big cat sanctuary in Dunlap, Calif., was mauled to death by a lion on March 6, 2013. According to an ABC News report, the fatal incident occurred at the Cat Haven in Dunlap, a small town in Fresno County near Kings Canyon National Park. Officials say Hanson was inside the cat enclosure when a 4-year-old African lion named Cous Cous attacked her. It was not immediately clear what Hanson was doing inside the enclosure or what caused the attack.

‘Her True Passion in Life’

Another employer unsuccessfully tried to lure the lion away from Hanson. The lion was eventually shot by a Fresno County sheriff’s deputy who responded to the call. The park was closed at the time of the attack and there were no visitors inside. Hanson’s father tells ABC News that his daughter loved being around large cats and that working with them was her true passion in life. Hanson trained with three tigers and a lion while in college at Western Washington State University, her father said.

A 3-year-old girl was killed and her father critically injured in a collision in Orange after a car slammed into a bus stop, the afternoon of January 12, 2013. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred on Tustin Street at Taft Avenue. The motorist, a 29-year-old man, was in a Kia Soul with his 5-year-old son at the time. He told police that he had swerved to avoid a car that cut him off, before going over the curb and into the covered bus stop.

The young victim was waiting at the bus stop with her parents. A woman who was passing by tried to resuscitate the girl, but was not successful. The girl’s father was severely injured, but is expected to survive. Her mother was not injured. Police do not believe alcohol is a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

August 26, 2012-San Bernardino, CA-A man charged with the 2010 car accident that killed a California Highway Patrol officer in Barstow agreed to a plea arrangement with prosecution on Friday.

Rafael Garcia, 20, pled no contest to one count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Other charges against Garcia, including transportation of marijuana, were simultaneously dropped.

Garcia was traveling north on the 15 Freeway when he struck Officer Justin McGrory, who was conducting a traffic stop. McCrory was killed instantly and the other car was also wrecked.

Sylvester Ray Martinez, 78, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident that involved seven vehicles. According to a news report in The Daily Breeze, the fatal car accident occurred on the 101 Freeway in the Cahuenga Pass in Los Angeles, on January 30, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by a 45-year-old woman swerved in front of a Honda Civic driven by a 77-year-old woman in which Martinez was a passenger.

Three subsequent crashes occurred, as vehicles approaching the Dodge truck and Honda were unable to stop in time. Martinez was transported to a local hospital where he died. The driver of Civic suffered major injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries. It is not clear how many others were injured in this seven-car pileup. An investigation is ongoing.

Sherree Lindborg, 52, was killed in a San Francisco area car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in the San Jose Mercury News, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Solano Way near Avon Avenue in Concord the night of January 16, 2011. Lindborg was walking her dog when she stepped onto the roadway and was hit by a car driven by a 17-year-old driver.

A second vehicle then struck the victim who was down on the roadway and drove off. Lindborg and her dog were killed in the accident and the teen driver who remained at the scene of the accident has not been cited. Police are searching for the driver of the second vehicle. They believe the man is in his 20s, has brown hair and drives a four-door hatchback.

A 25-year-old woman was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when a vehicle struck her on the 110 Freeway. According to a CBS news report, the fatal car accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the freeway near downtown Los Angeles early morning on January 10, 2011. Police say the Van Nuys woman pulled over to the side of the freeway when her car broke down. She was hit while stepping out of her vehicle by a car driven by a 31-year-old Diamond Bar woman. An investigation is ongoing.

Tien Chou, 85, was fatally injured in an Orange County car accident after he was struck by a vehicle the evening of December 30, 2010. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the 2400 block of West Broadway near Hampton Street in Anaheim. Chou was crossing the street when a Honda sport utility vehicle in the eastbound lanes hit him. He was transported to an area trauma center where he died shortly after the accident. Police are investigating the cause of this fatal pedestrian accident.

Herceg Vlado, 66, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when a car struck him as he crossed the street the night of December 23, 2010. According to CBS Los Angeles, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in a crosswalk on Wilshire Boulevard near 10th Street in Santa Monica. Vlado was using the crosswalk when a car driven by a 19-year-old man hit him. The young driver has not been cited or arrested pending an official investigation.
