Motorcycle Accident Causes and Liability Issues

A motorcycle crash can occur because of the involvement of another vehicle. A motorcyclist can lose control because of debris on the roadway or some other dangerous condition on the roadway such as a pothole or uneven pavement. A motorcyclist could also lose control because of a vehicle defect or a mechanical malfunction. Each motorcycle accident case must be evaluated carefully and investigated thoroughly in order to determine the facts.

In such cases, the victims’ families would be well-advised to consult with an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer who is well-versed in auto products liability cases. If a malfunction or product defect is suspected, it is best to preserve the motorcycle in its current condition, unaltered, so it can be carefully examined by an expert for vehicle defects, malfunction or other evidence. If a dangerous condition on the roadway caused or contributed to the accident, the city or governmental agency responsible for maintaining that roadway could be held liable. Any such claim against a governmental agency must be properly filed within 180 days of the accident or injury.
