Carlos Martinez, of Mexico, was injured in a San Diego car accident when an out-of-control vehicle crashed through a convenience store. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the injury car accident occurred at the 7-Eleven on West San Marcos Boulevard in San Marcos the night of December 2, 2010. Teresa Petersen was travelling on South Rancho Santa Fe Road when she lost control of her vehicle and went across a parking lot before crashing through the front doors of the 7-Eleven. The car then traveled the length of the store and struck Martinez, who sustained severe head and facial injuries. Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident.
My thoughts and prayers are with Carlos Martinez following this serious injury pedestrian accident. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery from his injuries.
San Diego Pedestrian Accidents

What Caused This San Diego Car Accident?
It is unclear from the report what may have led to the vehicle veering off the road and into the store. At this point we do not know if the driver suffered a medical condition. Investigators will have to find the answer to a number of questions. Was the driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Was the motorist driving recklessly or excessively speeding before losing control of the vehicle? Was the driver distracted or otherwise negligent at the time of the car accident? Was any other vehicle involved? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine what precisely occurred here and why.
If the driver in this case is determined to have been at fault, then she could be held liable for the serious injuries caused to Martinez. Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of earnings, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Car accident victims would also be well-advised to contact an experienced San Diego personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
