Long Beach Man Killed in Beaumont Freeway Crash

Braulio Alaniz Marin, 34, of Long Beach, was killed in a Beaumont rear-end collision on November 21, 2008. Marin was a passenger in the sedan which was struck on the eastbound 60 Freeway just west of Jack Rabbit Trail. Marin was pronounced dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating this 11/21/08 fatal crash. Our source for this blog was this news report in the San Bernardino Sun.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family of Braulio Alaniz Marin for their heartbreaking loss. They will certainly be in my prayers.

Rear-end collisions are the most common type of auto accidents in the United States. About 2.5 million out of 6.3 million auto accidents are rear-end collisions. These accidents commonly occur at low speeds, but sometimes the consequences can be deadly, especially if vehicles are traveling at freeway speeds.

Unfortunately, many more details are not available about this fatal collision. There are a number of questions that are unanswered. It does not appear that the vehicle Marin was a passenger in, was stopped or stalled on the freeway at the time it was rear-ended. So what caused this rear-end collision? Was it a car or a big rig? What caused the driver of the other vehicle to crash into Marin’s vehicle? Was the driver of the other vehicle intoxicated at the time of the crash?

I trust that the CHP’s investigation will answer all these questions and more. If the other driver is determined to be at fault for this accident, then he or she could be held criminally and civilly liable for the wrongful death of Marin. If the other driver was also under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the fatal crash, then he or she could face felony DUI charges as well as vehicular manslaughter charges. If the driver of the car in which Marin was a passenger, was somehow responsible for the accident, then he or she could be held liable for Marin’s death.

The family of Braulio Alaniz Marin would be well-advised to retain the services of an experienced California auto accident attorney who can help determine how and why this accident occurred and who should be held accountable for the Marin’s death. The best attorneys will offer free consultations.
