Los Angeles Car Accident Injures Nine Children

A woman and nine children were injured in a Los Angeles car versus van accident when the van they were riding in collided with another vehicle. According to KTLA News, the Canoga Park car accident occurred the morning of May 4, 2009 in the 8500 block of De Soto Avenue. The van was being driven by a 37-year-old woman and her passengers were two boys and seven girls ages 7 to 10, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. All the children sustained personal injuries. Officials are investigating what caused the car crash.

I’m extremely relieved that all the children involved in this Los Angeles car-van accident escaped without any serious personal injuries. I wish them all the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System, there were 260 fatal car accidents and 27,110 injuries involving car accidents in the city of Los Angeles. In Los Angeles County as a whole, 712 deaths and 56,475 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents.

This news report does not provide much information about how or why this car accident occurred. Whose fault was the car accident? Whose children were in the van? Was the woman driving the van caring for the children at the time of the accident? These are some of the questions that need to be answered in order to determine who should be held accountable. This car collision may have also been caused by a dangerous condition on the roadway or a mechanical malfunction.

In such types of car collisions, it is in the best interest of accident victims to consult with experienced California car accident attorneys who will examine different aspects of the incident, analyze police reports, eyewitness statements and other facts and help determine who or what caused the accident and who should be held accountable for the damages and injuries caused.
