Los Angeles Car Accident Proves Fatal for Woman

A woman was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after the Mercedes she was driving veered off the roadway and into a parking lot. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal car accident occurred on Victory Boulevard, near Owensmouth Boulevard, in Woodland Hills on September 14, 2011. For unknown reasons, the Mercedes hit an Acura sedan, before striking a light pole and crashing into a tree at a shopping mall. The vehicle was completely totaled and the female driver and the female passenger had to be extricated from the car. The driver did not survive the crash. The passenger sustained serious injuries. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman killed in this tragic accident. My thoughts and prayers are also with the injured victim. I wish her the very best for a swift and complete recovery.

Los Angeles Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 227 people were killed and 25,043 were injured in Los Angeles car accidents. During that same year, 556 fatalities and 50,817 injuries occurred due to Los Angeles County car accidents.

What Caused This Fatal Crash?

The report states that officials are trying to determine if the driver was distracted or had suffered a medical condition at the time of the crash. There are several unanswered questions here as well. Did the driver of the Acura cause the crash by making an unsafe lane change or cutting off the Mercedes? Was either driver speeding or driving recklessly? Did the victim’s car have mechanical issues, possibly defective brakes or a defective accelerator?

Liability Issues

In cases where negligence or wrongdoing is involved, the family of a deceased victim can file a wrongful death claim seeking compensation for medical expenses, funeral cost, lost future income, loss of companionship, and other related damages. Injured victims or their families would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident, stay on top of the official investigation, and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and thrown into the nordstrom valet parking lot. The vehicle was a Mercedes convertible. Get your facts straight. There were witnesses from nordstrom who saw the body, and I believe a citizen who put a towel over the body in the parking lot.
