Robyn Lynn Shaw, 35 and her 9-year-old daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Shaw, were killed in a Pasadena car accident the morning of April 22, 2009, the Pasadena Star News reports. Shaw and her three children were in a silver Toyota Sequoia going east on Orange Grove Boulevard near Martelo Avenue when the sport utility vehicle swerved across the center divider and into oncoming westbound traffic triggering a multiple vehicle car collision. Shaw’s 5-year-old daughter and her 16-month-old son were hospitalized with serious personal injuries. Five people from the other vehicles involved in this chain-reaction car accident also suffered personal injuries, two of them are said to be serious.
My heart goes out to the Shaw family for their shocking loss. I offer my deepest sympathies to everyone who knew and loved this beautiful family. I cannot imagine what they must be going through, having to deal with the deaths of two beloved family members while having to care for two other little ones who are fighting for their lives. I hope and pray the two children here as well as the two other adults pull through from their serious personal injuries. Please keep all the victims and their families of this incredibly tragic car accident in your prayers.
Eyewitnesses told officials that they saw the Toyota Sequoia suddenly veering out of control and slamming into oncoming vehicles. Traffic investigators are still looking into why the Sequoia went out of control. The SUV accident left the Sequoia badly damaged and mangled beyond recognition. I would be really curious to find out whether there was a mechanical malfunction or car product defect that caused the SUV to go out of control. Police say the speed limit on that street was 35 mph and that Shaw was not speeding.
The Shaw family would be well-advised to consult with experienced car product defect lawyers who can help determine how this fatal car accident occurred. The Toyota Sequoia must be preserved in its current crashed state unaltered so it can be examined by an expert for evidence of vehicle product defects or malfunctions. In such cases, victims and/or their families should choose a California auto product defect law firm that has a stellar track record representing injured clients against major auto makers such as Ford and General Motors as well as many Japanese auto makers. The best California personal injury lawyers will not charge any fees for consultation or a detailed case evaluation.
