MADD Reports Drop in Drunk Driving Fatalities

MADD and their sponsor at Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys Personal Injury Lawyers, were pleased to receive news that drunk driving fatalities dropped to a record low. An organization devoted to eliminating drunk driving, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), announced new data released from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that demonstrates just how important MADD is for our community. The report found that death in 2009 decreased seven percent.

The announcement was promising to members of MADD and their sponsors at the personal injury law firm Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys. Since MADD was founded 30 years ago, DUI deaths have almost been cut by nearly 50%. That means that 300,000 lives have been saved by the efforts of MADD and their supporters.

Drunk Driving Laws

Drunk driving is not just dangerous but also illegal. It is a serious crime to drive under the influence of alcohol. The law prohibits anyone from driving with blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher. The California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a) states: “It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle.”

Join the Fight To End Drunk Driving

Underage and binge drinking is a tough problem. Too many lives are needlessly lost every year because of reckless drunk driving. We need to do everything we can to eliminate alcohol-related tragedies.

Although MADD’s good news brings joy to members and supporters, there is still much we can do. In 2009, 10,839 deaths were reported. Through MADD’s efforts, this number is down from previous years but it can still be lowered. Your support can make a difference to end drunk driving.
